I think it should be "Even when I’m awake, I still want to see THEM"
It's obviously referring to the dreams, thats why it says "EVEN when I'm awake". Makes no sense else.
Wanting to see your lover when you're awake is quite normal so why the "even"? Seeing your dreams when you're awake is not quite that normal so the word fits here.
