|
I am in High School but I am fill up in A.P classes. I started readind Poe's work in GRade school and was suprice that I was the only one who could understand his work. Even the teachers did not like it because they could not understand it. They said I was depress. So I started going by the name Grave. It in a way suited me. I gusse a lot of people find his work interesting. Are there any fans of his work ? My favorite story is The Fall of the House Usher and the Poem Raven.

To D Grave: It really shouldn't suprise you that some people don't understand his work. In a way, he is a very complex writter. The first book I read was The Complete Works of Edgar Allan Poe. My favorite story is The Oval Portrait and my favorite poem is Anabel Lee. |

Yeah, and most of his works have a dark and mysterious feeling about them so there are many people who don't appreciate them. His work, "The Cask of Amontillado" was my first encounter of him. |

I have a book of his major poems. I used to read it in my free time. Anabel Lee freaked me out when I found out he was talking about his cousin (I think). I also liked The Raven. |

I really love Poe and all of his works. They're full of so much stuff. We talked through one of his stories, Cask of Amontillado, and it made us appreciate his style a lot more. I can't wait until I can get the chance to teach his stuff. Hopefully I can pass on the love for his works to other people. His life story and the pain that he went through really makes his work seem that much more real. The Mask of the Red Death is really something considering how many people died because of that in his life. He's a master of his field there is no doubt about that. |

I've never cared much for his poems, but I really like "Tell-Tale Heart", "The Cask of Amantillado", and "The Pit and the Pendullum" ... though the last of these I don't remember too well. ... I'd heard that his work was tainted after he died... something about a friend of his rewritting his work or something like that. |

He's not one of my favorite writers but he's definitely good with that stuff. The Cask Of Amontillado was pretty wicked and creepy, but i liked it nonetheless. XDD |

I love Edgar Allan Poe. I'm always re-reading my copy of "Great Tales and Poems of Edgar Allan Poe". My favorite stories are Hop-Frog, The Black Cat, The Masque of the Red Death, and Shadow-A Parable. My favorite poems are The Raven and Alone. I would also like to recommend the short stories of Nathaniel Hawthorne, another great American writer of that time period. Many of his stories also contain supernatural elements, but not in a tone of horror. Like Poe, his stories are deeply philosophical and delve into the human psyche. My favorites are The Prophetic Pictures, The Birthmark, Feathertop, and The Artist of the Beautiful.
