Born again Chirstian

I want to know what are your opinions on born again Christians. Are they brainwash misfits or people who lost their way and found God. I have no religious beliefs. But I am trying to be tolerent of others beliefs. Using President Bush as a example I find Born again Christian as a little nuts and are extrmely naive to whats really going on in the world. They need to take their head out of the sand and see what is happening in this Choas filled world

Hey, why don't you take your head out of the sand? President Bush is a born again Chirstian because he used to drink a lot and he stopped when he found religion again (correct me if I'm wrong). Everyone can atone for their sins with whatever religion they want. What matters is if you change your life for the better. |

I am trying not to be mean. But President Bush has destroyed our social and financial economy. He used God as a excuse for all his screw ups in office. The only reason why he won against Kerry was because of the Republican. His party used god to justify his actions and all his mess up in office. In the end Bush has no mind and is warped by his god. I believe that the american economy will not be able to recover for anthor 10 years or more due to his actions

what does "atone for their sins" have to do with getting better? in the 12 step program, you have to give in to a higher power. that doesn't mean you have to accept jesus christ as your lord and savior. if you use the term "brainwash misfits", you are not being tolerant of other people's beliefs. :P anyone who uses god to justify anything is too pussy to take responsibility for their own actions. i am intolerant of beliefs that avoid responsibility. |

Ok.. politics AND religion are both in this convo.. wow... dangerous, dangerous, dangerous. A litte gasoline, a little nitro, a match, fun stuff. Anyway, 1) If you're going to talk about politics, cite a source. Simple. 2) I, too, have no strong beliefs, though I am certain that faith of any kind is a good thing, brainwashed or otherwise. Besides, from what I know of Christians, being raised by Christians and being in a Christian community since I was born, being a Christian, born again or otherwise, does not make you blind to the Chaos in the world, but rather, more aware of it. Much more aware. To that note, I agree with Kyari on this. |

Whoa, you people obviously are VERY ill informed. President Bush does not use God to push his policies. And our economy is doing just fine thank you very much. Our economy is actually GROWING. Why don't you look up the facts first? |

I don't have a religion of my own much. I jsut made up my own. Using pieces of the religions I agree with to make me a better person. Thats what they were all meant to do right? Or along those lines. When I think of Christianity I think of some person preaching another on how to find the way to God. I wish they'd lend my some fricken courtesy and not be so fricken ethnocentric. OMG It totally pisses me off. A friend of mine, her mother was going on and on how she won't tolerate Buddhists because they might as well be worshiping Satan. I was down-right pissed off but didn't say anything because she would have kicked me out if I said I agree with most of the Buddhist beliefs. I tolerate most religions and cultures, and if I can't control my emotions I leave the room. But, I cannot stand Christians. I feel they have corrupted some of the minds of people. I'm happy for them that they "found the way", but keep an open mind. They completely shut off any other ideas. I'd laugh that as soon as they get to heaven to see that God was really Buddha, or Alha (Sp? o.o) Ah well, off to bed!

Schala - Yeah, but what you describe doesn't seem to be the norm, at least not in my experience. Yes, there are extremists and bad apples in every religion, the Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, all of them. From my understanding the Muslims are just as ethnocentric as the Christians. Both are well known for acts of extremism. "Allah" |

My family has many different Religious beliefs. For one my mother's side of the family are very devout to the faith of Christianity. While my Dad's side are all atheist. I have been told many things about religion in my life. My father has shown me throught out history people use religion to justify their actions. The highjackers of 9/11 believe they were doing God's work when they attack the twin towers. I believe religion has its place in soceity. But it should not override commen sense. For anyone interested in this topic you should read The Power of Myth by Joseph Cambell

Ah, the waters of politics and religion. It might as well be oil instead of water for all the flames they have kept alive. ... Anyway, now that Bush's term is running out, I just hope and pray that there is a candidate out there worthy of becoming president. As much as I don't really like Bush, I didn't really vote for anyone other than him last election. I mean, there weren't any really good candidates. :( Same with Arnold, but that's a slightly different story. But yeah, to tie religion into this, all I see Bush doing is going to church on Sunday and have his people do all the work. And that's about all I think and know about politics, so good day! |

Hehe. I was reminded by that post of something I've said quite a few times in the past, that I'm just waiting for the president who isn't a politician. That will probably be the only presiden that I will serve. I've seen no true good come of politics. The major breakthroughs have all been done in spite of politics. Like today, it warmed my heart to see a large line of protestors out by the street, who walked away from their work to protest the new laws coming into play concerning immagration policy. I really think that is the true way to advertise and help change an issue, not by simply voting or ranting in a few uncaring threads. |

I'm a Christian, and I'm pretty sure that I understand what born again Christian means. There are bad people who are Chrisitians, right? And those who uses the name of the religion, or the name of God to do bad stuff. And yet, these people claims theirself to be Christians. It can't be deny that they are a Christian, (I mean, sometimes, it's written on ur id what religion are u.) These people, although they are Chrisitians, they aren't born again Christians. But then, born again Christians, are those who actually believes, as in trully believe in God. These born again Christian won't be using the name God as an excuse to their problems. There shouldn't be any connections between religious beliefs and politics, though. |

Re: Born again Chirstian

I get it now. There are tons of people like that in my town. They say I am going to hell because I don't go to church, yet they are total ass holes who do drugs are alcoholics, but since they believe in God and go to church they have an invitation to heaven and a front row seat to the nice things in Heaven. Daedalus Machina, I totally agree with that, there are "bad apples" in all religions. I was just picking on Christians. They are jsut one religion I don't agree with. That and Mormonism. But, anyway. Enough flaming other people's religions. Please don't be hurt by what I said. It was but an opinion. Sorry if I did offend you. ^_~ Have a good day!

(actually not only christians, there are other ppl with other religions do these kind of stuffs too) 2. Born again christian = Those who believe and accept Jesus as their savior, even that's literally clear, christian = those who believe in christ. offended? Good... |
