no i dont, but one of my friends does and for that he should go blind........ .....we also crack jokes about his love for hentai..... do you do those things? if you do then you also deserve to go blind.....  |

so Doujinshi is like Hentai, but on Manga. Like Hentai Manga? I never really got a 'clear' definition.

lol, im actually 15(kinda young), but also very mature and im growing up faster then I thought, and these Doujinshi as you call it are wrong..or should only belong to Cereal killers and PERVs who peak in the Women's locker room. ^_^

I have some Yami no Matsuei doujinshi my friend got for me at A-kon. Is it really all hentai? I could have sworn I read some that weren't. My Yami no Matsuei is pretty clean though most of them are not.

I've never read any myself, so I was wondering what it really was....is it really all hentai? From what I've seen floating around the net, it's just supposed to be fan-made manga. I've heard that drawing doujin is a good way to start being a mangaka. |

Oh come on guys, get your facts straight. Doujinshi is NOT restricted to hentai material, but hentai is only one aspect of the market just like movies, books, and magazines. 「åŒäººèªŒã€ The Kanji literally translates into 'same', 'person', 'record'/'magazine'. So, Doujin is a copy of other people's works and is essentially 'fan-made' manga. The reason why you see so many adult-oriented works is because that's what sells the most.    |

Heh, interesting topic.. but to help clear things up, doujinshi is not restricted to hentai material only - like riceboks stated - it's 'fan-manga' basically. Like how there's fanfiction and fanart, this is the world of fan-manga! The 'fan' of the anime uses the characters/world to create another story idea. Some of them actually have plots - but the more popular ones are the fluffy/sap/hentai ones, lol. As for the question of 'where' can you get it.. um.. if you live in Japan, they usually sell them in bookstores (I was in Japan a few weeks ago and I bought some doujinshi :D lol - and for your information, it WASN'T hentai, it was a plot-based one) but if you're in another part of the world.. then.. I'd stick to reading it on the internet - some sites provide them. But if you really, REALLY want to own some, you can always try ebay or buying it online - there's over 6 billion people in the world, SOMEONE has to be selling it, ne? As for the 'serial' killer comment.. lol - not all serial killers are motivated by sex - most of them are wonked up in the head and killing satisfies them. But really.. doujinshi isn't hentai manga - if ya don't trust me, go to Japan and find out.

Geez...i'm getting frustrated of people thinking that those who like HENTAI are all bad people & should die horrible deaths. I agree sometimes the creators cross the line (personally tentacle rape & gang-bangs are cruel)...but those who do it with taste & make it artistically i have no problem with. They are smart people cause like it or not SEX sells. Alot of anime started out as H-games....if everyone followed the "goody-goody" way we wouldn't have series like AIR, Kanon, Shuffle!, Fate/Stay Night, Canvas, Da Capo, Soul Link, Izumo, Yami to Boushi...i could go on & on. There is a large fan culture associated with the contemporary doujinshi scene. Manga doujinshis are advertised and reviewed in some magazines, and sold en masse at "comic markets". Most manga doujinshis are at the level of Western fanzines, though a significant proportion are of remarkably high quality. These sell thousands of copies, and some people can make a living drawing doujinshi alone. Popular doujinshi artists often go on to become professional manga-kas (eg. Sonoda Kenichi, Ozaki Minami). On the other hand, some professional manga-kas have been known to publish doujinshis, often under assumed names, parodying their own work (eg.Hagiwara Kazushi, Ueshiba Reach). Pornographic mangas account for a staggering 25% of the manga industry's output. They are as available to the consumer as any other type of manga,though they are technically age-restricted and are often wrapped in plastic. H-manga boasts a large fandom; there are several sub-genres of H-manga, and the degree of artistry varies widely. Exceptional H-manga artists sometimes, but not always, move to mainstream publishers. Many minor publishers specialise in H-manga and are closely associated with pornographic game software, CDROMs and the doujinshi scene. I found out alot of these artists are in fact FEMALES....one of the most controversial hentai is called Cream Lemon...out of the 9 creators 5 of them are women (using alias of course)! You go to conventions....you'll be surprised how many people check out the HENTAI stuff....there's a mix of guys & girls buying stuff. So bitch at me all you want....I'm proud that i like hentai...that i collect the odd H-doujin....that i play the games....i really don't give a SHIT what these people say about Hentai. There! that's my rant! To give a reply to the thread...it's up to you if you wanna collect doujins....& yes it's not all about hentai. Search around....visit forums....ask questions...if you don't want the hentai then that's fine....there's alot of choice out there. If you do want to check out the H stuff...the company CRIMSON COMICS are quite well done. Some are really "graphic" but others are good reads. There's basically a doujin for every anime ever made!  |
