What's the plural...
Link | by Ili on 2005-02-18 02:54:56
So, I always say 'anime' and not 'animes' when talking about more than one show. Is that correct? What's the plural of 'anime'?
And while we are on it... what about 'manga'? It just feels weird saying 'animes' and 'mangas'.

The Jap language is a funny one and some words don't have plurals. At least that's the impression I've gotten over the past few years.

Anyone care to clear this up for me?

I also use 'anime' as the plural form of the word anime.

Well... I think it's wrong to say "animes" and "mangas" as the plural form of "anime" and "manga". They're NOT even listed as English words, so I guess we shouldn't worry about it that much.

Anime is just "anime" in the plural form. Personally, it doesn't really matter because anime is not even a Japanese word, at least not originally. They just use the word "manga" to cover cartoons, the books, series, etc.

Anime is w00t. Anyone who says otherwise doesn't know what they're talking about. =)

the japanese language has no plural forms. that's why it's more proper not to add an "s" at the end of a japanese word when speaking it in english.

Ahh, I thought so. Thanks all for your input! Muchly appreciated.
