The phrase "jump the shark" refers to when something or someone should have ended or retired but doesn't, and ends up making bad carreer decisions. It applies to a lot of shows on TV, and even movies, politicians, and sports players. Here's what I think jumped the shark- Dragon Ball Z. Should have ended with the Cell Saga. The Majin Buu saga was okay, but it was no where near as good and original as the old ones. And GT wasn't very good either. Inuyasha. It was really good in the first season but now it is so repetative. It got good again with the Band of Seven saga but they abandoned the new direction and went back into Jewel Shards/Naraku country for the seven billionth time. What do you guys and gals think jumped the shark? |

i think Rurouni Kenshin should have either ended with the Shishio arc or should have stayed true to the manga and gone on to the Jinchuu arc. everything in the anime after the Shishio arc was pretty crappy and the anime just went completely downhill as it continued on. |

Yeah, that's very true. The following episodes after Shishio were subpar, but there were a couple of good episodes. However, it was like they rushed out these episodes, and it did not compare to the Shishio saga. Samurai X came after too and was excellent but I don't think you're referring to that. |

Naruto: Well, it hasn't jumped the shark yet, but the anime is going to if they continue to put out entire years of filler. The manga is way ahead of the series, so why not get back to canon?? The filler is ok, but I'd like to see the actual plot come back some time soon. |

Yu Gi Oh, absolutely... And oh yeah, Pokemon and Digimon, funny how there are people that actually still watching them... |

Digimon and Dragon Ball... They always repeat the same thing - Beat bad guys... Save the world... |

Prince of Tennis: If not the ridiculous ping-pong match, then the retarded Jyousei Shonan matches. Or the Rokkaku matches. Or the Hyotei training matches. Or the Rikkaidai matches. Or the US Junior Invitational. Or the movie, "The Two Samurai". Seriously, I didn't think the anime could make a team more worthless than the manga's Midoriyama, but christ, the national level champions Rikkaidai were totally lamerfied. (I know that's not a word, so don't bother correcting me there.) |

Yeah, InuYasha. No arguments. The Band of 7 DID pull it back for a while, but then they went back to the whole Naraku/Kikyo thing. Ugh... LEAVE HER DEAD!!! How many times can you reserect the same person?!? And not to mention the ending themes. (shudders) they just seem to get worse and worse. One Piece, too. In fact, ALL Shonen Jump shows. They haven't exactly come to the shark yet, but why do the take 6+ episodes to get through ONE STORY?? It gets annoying on Saturday mornings when you think "Yay! Brand new One Piece!" and then you remember that they're STILL fighting Chopper's bad guy. Too much repeditiveness!!
