Avatar: The Last Air Bender, Opinions?

Well recently i've been hearing alot about The Avatar, so i decided to start watching it, i suggest if you haven't picked it up yet you watch it from episode 1, which i think is out on dvd (Or DL it if you can do that i guess), Anyways i'm an avid anime fan, i've been watching anime for years and i'm pretty bloody obsessed with it. That being so i've been pretty elist about american anime but Avatar managed to captivate me. First off the battles are very original they manage to use their elements while combining it with interesting martial art movements to create a fighting style which sets it apart from the Cliche anime fights which i constantly see in anime. It has plot progression, i'm acctually not skipping lots of episodes like i do with certain series which feel the need to throw 5 episodes worth of flashbacks or fillers at me. Theres a balance of ecchi, really theres none it's more like it's flirtatious humor, Ecchi ruins alot of anime. The characters though somewhat bland at the beginning grow on you, especially Zuko compliments to whomever his voiceactor is he really caught me with the recent episode "Biter Work" the ending for that was pretty extreme. The humor is the typical anime kind of antics, but with influence from American Comedy which i find i'm laughing at alot more then i usually do. the only bad parts is that it might be a little childish to some people who enjoy the gore and blood of anime (Japanese supposedly seem to enjoy their characters coughing up alot more blood then a person should, Watch bleach to see what i mean). Some characters are a bit bland but thats hardly a negative it's not really noticeable. Personally i think this is a good step, to have anime be more widely accepted here, I don't know about everyone else but i'm a bit tired of people who have yet to understand Anime make tons of acqusations about it, and honestly people who deny in every fiber of their body that The Avatar is NOT anime are not helping the cause at all. Quite an interesting anime though, i'll definetly look into the series more |

it looks okay, but i dont find the bald kid appealing (you know who, i forgot his name) he doesnt seem like a good main character...i think hes annoying the battles arent original control of the elements have been used in many animes, and i dont see any difference in this one |

ummm... I think it is pretty nice and well made. ^^ I kinda watch it sometimes when I am able to do so...^^ I don't have any problems with the show...^^;

I think Avatar's great too! I like the figting styles that are used. The creator says that they're based on martial arts which is so cool! But I also think Aang is annoying at first, but he gets better in later episodes. It's the best American cartoon around!

Since this is American, the animation is so FLUID! But yeah, it's a pretty good show. I haven't seen it in a while though. Whenever I watch it, they're always reruns. Oh, I just have to add that Jet looks exactly like Mugen from Samurai Champloo, or Spike from Cowboy Bebop. I think it's because of the hair. |

I love it, I've seen all the episodes. And compared to other American cartoons it's not that childish, considering that there's actual drama (what with the war going on) and characters can die.

It's awesome. Keeping in mind that this is an American cartoon. There is an actual plot progression. There isn't just a bunch of random episodes where all the other episodes that came before it doesn't matter. There is an actual bond that connects one charcter to the others. There is also no absolute evils that is so rampant in most American cartoon. Here, the Fire Nation isn't just one huge empire of evil. All in all, it's really quite well made.

I like their fighting motions, though the action framerates are rather choppy, I pretty much go woot for their fighting motions ^^  |

Omg! I love Avatar! It's so funny plus the animtaion is very great for something that made in the US.Also the story telling and action scenes are pretty nice too.I love Avatar!

Avatar is an excellent show with it's animation and character designs and story. It bothers me when people say they hate it b/c it is American copy of Anime. They need to understand that anime may have inspired it, but it is not "American anime copy' and stop hating for no real reason.  |

People think this is an anime. Let me clear it out. This is a cartoon (Amine = American Cartoon) influenced from Anime. I think its pretty good for an american cartoon. The 4 element thing and the 4 kingdoms is cool. If it was made in Japan first, this anime would be interesting to watch.

For an anime-y show that isn't anime, it's pretty good. The kung-fu moves are animated well. |

I like it sooooo much. I just love things with kung-fu and the five elements. Aang is pretty cute too and so hyper-active. But American stories are kinda...what do you call it...lame or sort of kind of things. Well, super heroes cartoons are not but it's too scientific. But this anime is so Japanese-ish.

Under japanese influence, it'll feel that way. I like it when he becomes blue and stuff and can control all elements, but only for a little bit since he's not his TRUE AVATAR self yet. He's really 110. Remember 100 years passed since he was unlocked from that big ice thing from ep. 1. ^_^

actually it is chinese. you have only four--air nomads, fire nation, earth kingdom and water tribe... i like their movements... so slow but so powerful |

wen i first saw it i thot tht it was pretty good nd tht i was gonna b obsessed w/ it.... but then i suddenly forgot about it nd bla. i dont hate it, but 1 of my friends tht is obsessed w/ avatar kinda made me avoid it more...... it ruined my immortal by evanescence. everytime i hear it it reminds me of avater-.-  run,run,run as fast as you can, can't catch me cum im PUFFY-CHAN!!! |
