hey to all naruto fans out there, i've been really dying too know why soo many people like naruto soo much. this question has been on my mind for quite some time now. Oh if you must know I'm not a Naruto fan at all...and i was wondering why many people like it soo much. And yeah, I've watched it from time to time when there's noting else to watch^^, for me it's just an anime, nothing special and i haven't been empressed by it (no offense Guys!). that's why i would like to hear your opinion why you like it. I love Naruto and naruto...hm..why is it soo good...ok,it is made by a famous manga writer... NINJAS~...each character is detailed and their past are shown through flashbacks throughout the story... FILLERS~(I love fillers..without fillers,we won't know the background of ALOT of characters throughout Naruto)...the variety of jutsus and number of characters...the great humour... TOADS and KUCHIYOSEs~ok..not only toads...there are manymany different summonings(kuchiyose) and creativity in them. NAMES~The characters of Naruto all have very Unique names don't you think?Let me name some..naruto means fishcake...chouji means butterfly..ino means pig..gaara means i love death<---weird,haha...so on and forth.. I still can name alot of factors of Naruto that will get you hooked from episode 1 right up to episode 191 and more~!!...but for now...these are the main points of Naruto and why so many people like naruto. |

Heh... seems like shonen anime like this just tend to be popular... Why is DBZ so popular in the past? Same thing with naruto now i guess... Maybe the reason is the coolness of the show... Lots of people watch animes just to see some cool stuffs. The word "ninja". Usually that makes people think of black suits, mask, secrets and traditional japanese stuffs. But noo... The idea of ninjas are completely different here, it seems that ninjas are very common in naruto's world, even there's an academy to be one, so we got to see ninja brats... How cool is that? and they're so modern! Of course they're still using traditional weapons or spells, but still, the whole concept is pretty interesting. The first episodes of naruto are very good ones. it makes you attached to the characters and it has a pretty decent storyline too. So, after watching these first episodes, people starts to think "this is gonna be a great anime!" and gradually they start to get addicted to the show... Also, from what i know in my school, lots of girls in my school watch naruto just hoping to get some yaoi action between naruto and sasuke, or sasuke and itachi... Or just for the sake of the bishonens... X( Well, i guess there are a lot of fangirls like that out there... That makes the rating of the show go up for sure-_- And of course it's also very popular in japan itself. Hmm, there's actually an anime with a concept quite similar to naruto, it's called Ninku. It also has modern ninjas, magic-like ninjutsus, and stuffs like that, but... I think not that many people know this anime... I wonder why... |

@sai the girl at your school are wierd^^. I couldn't/wouldn't imagine that naruto would have shounen-ai let alone yaoi in the anime. man, those are soo nasty girls^^ not much bishounens in naruto anyways, well maybe itachi 'lol' SUBARU SEISHIROU |

empressed* impressed (Stop internet fires!) Baku is right, Naruto's fillers are very good. I don't see why people criticize that aspect of the show, it gives us detail into the backgrounds/personalities of characters. And when the story does move, it makes it very exciting and all that more significant. Think about it, in real life, there is a lot of filler, and just when you least expect it life starts moving quickly and significant changes happen (like falling in love, or meeting an old long lost enemy/freind/family member). Usually the animes that mirror life are the ones we relate to and enjoy the most no matter how unnatural they are. I just started watching Naruto off of bit torrents, I hated the show before cuz' it was so hyped and I was very disapointed with the second episode so I stopped watching it, but now I am getting into it. I'd suggest you do the same, there is some GARBAGE in the beginning, but later on it gets REALLY good, almost Kenshin/Sailor Moon good. You do get drawn in over time; it was all at once for me. And there is some cool drama too, and the fact they're teenagers makes it more fun. PS maybe you should change the heading to something like "What do u like about Naruto? (Non-Fan asks)" or similar to get people interested. I thought it was just another fan thread at first. |

| To me is the character and the main storyline.. I don't like the fillers though, I wanna see Akatsuki member and Orochimaru.. XD |

i must admit that naruto makes me cry a LOT. i donno, their childhood stories r so sad n whenever that background songs start, i jz got so sad inside^^ to me, naruto is a very good anime filled wth good morals.haha..i think i started to believe in myself more especially after watching naruto^^ hahahahahaa.. d story may be a little bit slow at first but every arc is very exciting. n the jokes r very funny. n naruto has many interesting characters n roles ^^ such as the kages, anbu, akatsuki, the clans n their specialties etc3 n the most important, the bijuu n yondaime(he's such a mystery..i nvr like a dead guy so much!) conclusion: i jz love naruto from my heart^^   |

Naruto does have good emotional scenes, that's what puts in on par with classic anime. Good examples are stuff involving love Sakura's love for Sasuke, very touching, and in the very first episode when Naruto's teacher talks about his own past,and he said something like, "I had no freinds so I used to act out to get attention but it was always hurting inside" or something like that. Stuff like that hits close to home, I was exactly that way in early high school, and it made me misty eyed as I nodded my head in agreement to the anime goodness, a difficult accomplishment, LOL. There is A LOT of stuff like that in Naruto, (no scene has me actually cry yet, though, that only happens from Kensin LOL) and that's I'd recommend downloading it! |

@Hisoka Yep... Those girls give me the goosebumps whenever they're talking about yaoi stuffs from normal animes... In fact they watch animes just to see some fun yaoi pairings... X( Indeed that yaoi scenes are not much shown in naruto, so? Off they go searching for doujins... I can't understand those girls @.@ Anyway anyone knows when the fillers will end? I can't take it anymore... X( |

Me, I like it because of the characters..In my opinion the show in itself isn't that stupendous, but I like a lot of the characters. Why on earth would fillers reveal more about the characters past? FILLER is MADE UP. Therefore any filler about a characters past is incorrect (unless it closely branches off something in the manga) I don't see why people come here needing to hook you on Naruto, it's your choice..If you don't like it, then that's good for you. People who have to bash others for not liking an anime that they like is stupid and immature (I know I get bashed for being an Eva hater). Most people I know COMPLAIN about Naruto because of the fillers..Yes, they can be funny..But too much of it and it's frustrating. In my own opinion Naruto as a whole isn't a great anime..It's typical shonen. But if you look at certain bits of it, then it's better. Like I said, I like the characters..Many of the characters are great, but the show itself is lacking (in my opinion). For a shonen it's good..But when one compares it to things such as Saiyuki, it pales because shows like Saiyuki and shows like Naruto are on two different levels. Another thing, in my opinion, is some people read into Naruto too much. ..how does filler move it along better? Because I know that all the diehard Naruto fans usually like the manga more (and what does the manga not have? Filler.) And the manga seems to propel the story just fine without the stuff that's added into the anime. Guys... Stop complaining about yaoi. I know that the number of girls who complain about your yuri and hetero pairings are half the number of the guys who have to go out of their way to complain about yaoi. Yeah, it grosses you out..Well Sakura and Sasuke together disgusts me, but I don't have to bring it up unprovoked like so many guys seem to have to do with yaoi pairings (like the idiotic immature guys who go to a thread that they know is yaoi JUST to bash yaoi :/ ) Fangirls don't watch it hoping for some yaoi action, we know that there isn't going to be any, but there's all the little things that are like double entendrees...Such as Gai and Lee's relationship..We all know that it's a student teacher thing, but, the girls who like that pairing like to view it the other way (it's more fun that way, I know guys do that with yuri).I don't think a girl is stupid enough to sit down and watch Naruto and think "Hmm..Is Kabuto going to kidnap Sasuke and take him to Orochimaru so they can be lovers but then Itachi can come in and blah blah blah"...Of course not -_-..Get over yourselves. |
