What singer's voice gave you a shock?

Have you ever looked at a singer then think "She's going to have a weak voice." Or something around those lines. I know one singer Asuca Hayashi, she literally floored me when I heard her voice. I was floored again when I saw her age, 17. Her voice reminds me of Mai Yamane, but not as husky. She's the only one I can think of at the moment ^^; How about you guys?  |

Well, I don't know any PARTICULAR singers, but I do know that a lot of the times I look at a singer's face, thinking their voice would be really low because of their looks (this is with females). But when I actually hear their voice, it's so bright and clean! That usually gives me a shock. ^^ |

Bianca Ryan. She is 11 years old and she is amazing. This girl gives me shivers everytime I hear her sing. WOW I would honestly get her C.D This is amazing.

Well, for one, Hyde. The first time i saw him i thought he was a woman O.O Now that's a real life bishounen, although he's pretty old by now... And Asian Kungfu Generation. When i heard "Haruka Kanata" i thought "Wow, this band really rocks!" Then i see one of their video clips, their looks were....... Shocking... -_- |

Matsu Takako. Her voice was well below my expetations for someone with super idol status. Hikaru Utada. First time I heard her, I thought, damn, her Engrish is good. |

HYDE. love his voice, it's..uhmmmm, how do I describe this?? well it's unique SHINA(OR SHEENA?) RINGO. her voice is good and wierd. it is good when she doesn't do her "style"...and wierd when she does it.

I say one singer's voice that really shocked me was Aya Hiroshige. She sounds like a little kid! But she still has a good singing voice. Another singer that totally blew me away was ACIDMAN. Pure coolness.
I love satire. I just don't understand it.

The girl that did the first GetBackers opening. Probably cause she sucked so much the first time I heard the song I was speechless for a while. Also Hitomi Takahashi. I heard her perform live in that Sony Anime Music Fest, I heard her sing Blood+'s OP. Damn, she should stick to recordings. I thought she'd be able to sing, considering she got into the industry when she was 15. |

Gackt. I hadn't seen him when I heard him and even then I was surprised to hear such a deep voice. Yet, at the same time, he can hit high notes even a woman has trouble hitting! Needless to say, when I saw him, I was in shock. He's so petite!!! I mean, he's not that short, but he's so skinny and frail-looking. WHERE DOES HE GET HIS VOICE FROM??? Outside the JPop scene, am I the only one who finds Fiona Apple's voice... not suiting her appearance? I'm sorry, I just hate it. It's so low and husky, she kind of sounds like a bulldog. She's a terrific musician, but I really dislike her voice. It's like it's not hers...

I thought that in FMwS, Mitsuki would have a weak voice. But, her voice actress is pretty good. :O Anyways, I think Biancca Ryans has a great singing voice. :)

@too cool for you: The girl who sang the 1st opening theme of GetBackers. Her name is Naomi Ta...I forgot. You're right. In that "yuragu koto nai ai" song, she hit alot of extreme high notes I thought she was "screeching" instead of singing. Btw, she also sang the first opening theme of Magic Knight Rayearth, one of Clamp's oldies. Back ten her voice was beautiful too. And also Hitomi Takahashi of "Aozora no Namida". Yeah!!! She's cool. I agree. She shoulda consider get herself into recording. Her voice rocks. |

Another one to add. I'm pretty used to Kokia vocals tricks. You know she studied opera at one of Japan's best music school? Chouwa Oto ~wtih reflection~ She surprised me greatly. Although in one point of the song reminded me of Buddist monks chanting ^^; I thought that in FMwS, Mitsuki would have a weak voice. But, her voice actress is pretty good She did, but when she sing it was a 16 year old with a 20 something year old voice. Although I love Takuto's singing voice <3 |

OLIVIA's voice surprised me. It's so unique, but she fantastic at manipulating it so it fits the versatile style of her music. Shoutarou Morikumo was another shocker. Some know him as the voice actor of Shikamaru from Naruto. I expected his singing (and rapping) to sound different from Shikamaru... but I was so wrong.  am i more than you bargained for yet? |
