There really was a Kenshin Himura, sort of, let me get my book... He was based on a real life figure, Kawakami Gensai, who was similar in appearance to Kenshin: short, skinny, and effemenite. He was also clear headed and clever like our Himura! Gensai carried out secret assasinations too, but only one is actually on the accurate record, and it was in one blow! He had another similarity to Kenshin in that they were both unable to let go of their duties to fallen comrades and to the people they had slain. Unfortunatly he was executed by the goverment in the fourth year of Meiji, falely accused, seven years before the anime I believe, which was in year eleven, at least that is what year it is in the Shishio Arc. |

gundam seed According to the commentary in book 1 of the Gundam SEED novels, Fukuda once made Soichiro (Kira's seiyu) cry when he commented that though Kira was the main character, he might not survive to the end. This refers to how SEED was originally meant to end - Kira was supposed to die killing Le Creuset, Flay was supposed to be a human bomb that took out the Archangel, and Athrun was meant to lose a limb (though like many other of the original ideas that Fukuda had [such as Flay being the original pilot of Strike Rouge], these were discarded and never used). The Freedom Gundam animation glithches: 1. in an actual model, the freedom's wings doesn't spread when it hi-mats but in the animation it does. 2. also in an actual model, the freedom can't spread it's attack but in the animation it can. spacerunaway ideon Space Runaway Ideon is a predecessor of sorts to Hideaki Anno's Neon Genesis Evangelion and deals with many of the same issues[1]. There are a number of homage shots in the Neon Genesis Evangelion movies in which certain scenes are mirrored from Be Invoked almost perfectly. The Neon Genesis Evangelion series also ends in a similar fashion, with two theatrical releases: the first part ("Death") being composed largely of clips from the already-released episodes, and the second part ("Rebirth", or The End of Evangelion) made up of new animation devolving into apocalyptic territory much like that of Be Invoked, right down to overtones of rebirth. Tomino (creator of Mobile Suit Gundam) himself would make two cameo appearances in Ideon. The first was in episode 6 when the crew of the Solo Ship gathered to plan their next move. His second appearance would be near the end of Be Invoked, appearing in a spacesuit on the Solo Ship's deck with storyboard illustrations in his hands. Ideon made a number of homages to Tomino's Mobile Suit Gundam, which had immediately preceded Ideon. A Haro appears in an exploding shuttle in the second episode; Amuro Ray himself makes an appearance in episode 7 (although he doesn't say anything and is very easy to miss); in this same episode Karala refers to a nebula named the "Gundam Nebula"; and a poster of Char appears in episode 18. |

Yoshiyuki Tomino, commonly known for the bleak endings of his early work, the vicious efficiency he demands of his subordinates, and credited for introducing the concept of a 'realistic' mecha anime (through the original Mobile Suit Gundam) also writes lyrics for his own shows under the psuedonym Iogi Rin. Ironicaly, Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack, and the Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam movies are the only pieces in his entire filmographic collection to not feature his music. Space Runnaway Ideon also frequently uses a shot in which assorted items on a table rattle as the ship is pummled by enemy fire, among them is a small green haro inside a drinking glass! |

Shishio Makoto is roughly based on the real life Japanese samurai Serizawa Kamo. He was the creator of the Shinsengumi, which is what Saito leads in the anime. Search on Wikipedia to read all about him (as well as an EXCELLENT article on Shishio Makoto)! There are similarities in tactics as they both used fire as a large scale weapon (like the Kyoto fire project), and both were extremely violent and aggressive, and they both despised weakness: when three of his men failed he had them executed brutally on the spot. But there seems to be nothing about him in bandages or being burned, and he looked very different, Kamo was tall, pale, but did have small eyes (shishio kind of does). Kamo was also a drinker, Shishio just smoked a couple times. I have to find exactly how the author of Kenshin drew Shishio from Kamo; it's in the manga somewhere, but I don't have that one yet! I'm sure he drew a lot of Shishio's themes and story from this guy's own life, like maybe the fact that Kamo was betrayed at a drinking party is parrallel to Shishio's betrayal by the Meiji. Here are a couple of exerpts from that article on Kamo. Stuff in parenthesis is from me. (Death) On October 30th , all of the Mibu Roushigumi had a drinking party at which was a plan to assassinate Serizawa. Serizawa was then assassinated along with Oume (remember Shishio's girl was named Yume?), a woman who was sleeping with him, and also Hirayama. Hirama, the sole survivor in Serizawa's group, managed to flee back to Mito where he reported Serizawa Kamo's death to his family. (Earlier, in prison) There, he wrote this famous poem written on his ripped piece of clothing with his own blood from biting his pinky finger: 「 雪霜 㫠色 よã 花 ã® é㦠 散り ã¦ã‚‚ 後㫠 匂ã»ã† 梅㌠香〠Yukishimo ni Iroyoku hana no Sakigakete Chiritemo nochi ni Niou ume ga ka This roughly translates as: In the snow and frost, The color remains, And still giving off its scent after the scattering of the petals; Such ume is the perfume. Many were surprised at Kamo's never-before-demonstrated poetic talent |

In Tenchi series. Sasami reflection shows Tsunami reflection and vise versa Dr. Clay(if I remember correctly) puts his trademark on everything he makes In Gundam SEED you can seed Previews for Destiny in the last ED. It even shows Meer if I remember correctly Rurouni Kenshin: I believe that Saitou was based off of a historical figure also. I can't remember the details though -_- The seiyuu for Ryoko for Tenchi was the same for Quatre in Gundam Wing. Poor guy was feminine enough with all the sisters he had XD |

WOw... the author of Rurouni Kenshin must be really imaginative ne? hehehehe ^^ and that fact about shishio a.k.a. kamo is really interesting! wai~! *insert epic picture here* |

@ayu yeah, I noticed that too. I wonder what Kuroneko's role is... Besides Orochimaru, some popular anime characters that are voiced by woman seiyuus (that I know) are Edward Elric and Toushirou Hitsugaya, voiced by Paku Romi. It was a mild surprise when I learned that the cool voice behind these cool characters is a woman o_O. hmmmmm.... a seiyuu career such as of Paku is hard |
Re: Anime Fun Facts!

Tao ren from shaman king is also voiced by paku romi, but in their case, i can understand. sometimes a young man in their growth can have a little feminine voice, so a woman voicing a young boy is possible. Even makubex from getbackers has a female seiyuu. The problem with orochimaru is that he's a 50 yrs old man, and that kind of voice he has, if you ever heard his voice... Is an almost impossible voice for a woman to make except she has a really sore throat...O.o |
Re: Anime Fun Facts!

Neon Genesis Evangelion- There are more than FIFETY SIX versions of the shows ending "Fly Me to the Moon". Cowboy Bebop- In episode 5, two kids steal porn from Amy's (that lady from Spike's past) store. The black kid's design was originally going to be Ed's character design. Naruto- The reason the ninjas all wear protective headbands is because Naruto originally wore goggles (first episode), but the artist of the manga thought it took too long to draw the goggles, so he replaced them with the forehead protector. - There was a short manga called Karakuri that was the prequel to the manga Naruto, which predecessed the anime. In Karakuri, Naruto actually is a demon fox.

the character Okita Souji from the anime Peacemaker was taken from a real japanese samurai legend. i dunno bout his pet pig though ^_^; |
Re: Anime Fun Facts!

Inuyasha - Character from Ranma 1/2, Ryoga, made a special appearance on one episode, but correct me if I got the wrong info =/ Fullmetal Alchemist - Alchemy is a true form of science, dated back from the Egyptians, the Philosopher's stone is also considered as a myth but does not exist at all (basing from the true history), and so as the fact that the stone will make you invinsible in all things. The law of equal exchange does NOT exist in real life before. |
Re: Anime Fun Facts!

Umm, everybody knows that shinsengumi really exists right? So characters from RK like Saitou Hajime and Souji Okita (which appear to be in peacemaker too) are based from real persons, since they are members of the shinsengumi... Sanada Yukimura from Samurai Deeper Kyo is also a real person... |

Sai, yeah, I get your point on woman seiyuus voicing young male characters compared to seiyuus voicing creepy old characters such as Orochimaru. I also wonder how they manage to do it... there could be a technique to it such as strangling their throats in front of the microphone I guess ^^; lol |
