Well, It wasn't really an ending...^_^' The story is actually continued in the manga, I guess the anime just wasn't selling enough merchandise >_< It's a pity too...I love that anime, and the theme song is awesome! XD

How interesting, I didn't know there was something after the anime, so there is a manga. What is it about though?

A Manga is Usally what a anime is... first most Anime starts off as a manga, if the manga sells good then it is turned into a anime. ^.^

Well... first of all, it's supposed to be a shoujo manga (manga for girls, but boys can also read this ^^ ). And the story is rather unique (compared to other shoujo mangas at the moment). It a mixed up between daily life stories with the tale of Juunishi (12 animals in Chinese zodiac and a cat ^^ ) At first, it is rather into comedy, but by the story goes, it's getting darker and darker (in the anime, you won't find it so much darker, though). Each character portrayed here has background that people (aka reader) didn't normally think about. In here, no matter how normal someone behaves, he/she must have something dark in the other side. What captivates me to this story, is the way Takaya-sensei (the author) portraying each caracter emotion and the like. Put the juunishi thing aside, and it's things we could found in almost our daily life (or so I think). Well.. in the anime, all the Juunishi haven't showed up yet (the horse and the bird). Anyway, the anime is good (rather, cheerful), but the manga is also something you can't missed if you have an eye for this wonderful series ^^

From what I read on other forums, what happened was the main artist for the anime broke her arm near the end of the series, so they had to quickly finish it up or something. When she got better, the company decided to not make a second series.

This means all you big fans have to read the manga. From what I know, the manga has gone up to volume 19 in Japan (and still going), of course Tokyopop hasn't done that much yet (last I checked they did up to volume 12). The story in the anime stops around volume 6...

We are all shmidly.

Hmm... I think the manga volume haven't got that much, the least it's up 17 volume (the newest cover might be Hana-chan). But the chapter serialization in Hana to Yume mangazine is already up to 110 or so chapters... (by its 5th edition last month)

I have seen the anime and owned DVD import set. I found out that it only had 26 episodes but manga pushes the story much more out then ep. 26.
I also found that there are many animes that are like that example... like GTO.. It has horrible ending on the anime series but the manga goes up to 25 volumes!!! what's more is that anime character doesn't even have new character that are out in manga. I got the english version manga up to volume 22 now... I am trying to get 3 more volume to complete my collection.

I love anime. I live anime. Do you anime?

Well.. beside of the 26 or so episodes of the TV series, it has one special episode, I heard (haven't been able to find that one >_<;; ) The the ending of anime series itself remains uncertain, but if you read the manga, you can make a connection, somehow ^^;; As for the real ending, I don't think it has it (yet). The serialization in Japan has reached 107 or so chapters. I just manage to read up to chapter 105, though. At that point, the story was focusing on Hatsuharu and Souma Isuzu (or Rin, the horse)...

fruits basket's ending was exactly what you have said. That's because they anime went only until kyou's true form.. I don't know the real ending, but I did found out that tohru wanted to break the curse, the "rooster" of the 12shi and uo fell in love (they met on a grocery store), hana-chan was branded as a witch and almost killed someone, and the sohmas (except for ayame) and tohru went to the beach!

huwhaaaaat?!

yes, i wish that they could have continued the series on... i heard that in the manga Akito is actually a girl!? but i'm only up to volume #9 so hopefully some things get explained later on! my favorite part of #9 was when tohru and kyo were at Shishou's house... so cute!
