I ran into this anime a few days ago airing on one of our local channels. I wasn't able to watch the first few episodes, so I'm a bit off here. Is it based on Yuu Watase's Fushigi Yuugi? It uses the same "Four Gods" concept, but it's not in China (I think I heard them say "Kyoto"). It also has it's equivalent to Fushigi Yuugi's "star warriors", but it has eight instead of seven. It even has a character that ressembles Tasuki (probably just the hair). Bottom line, is it based on Fushigi Yuugi? I think the animation is lovely, so it's really inviting me to understand it more. :3 |

Of Course No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is no Dragon Priestess and the Guardians in this anime is sealed. The Hachiyos in this Anime are Eight so i think it started from the same plot but when the story goes episode to episode the plot will get deeper and deeper

Really? It's based on Japanese Folklore?? I always thought the Four Gods thing was a Chinese legend or something. So it's Fushigi Yuugi that's throwing me off. Yes, he does look like Kyo, but I always thought his orange colored hair was based on Tasuki's. Yes, I am. Err. Pretty random and off-topic question. :3 I also have another question. Are the Eight Hachiyou based on the Seven Star Warriors? @soli Yes, I'm well aware of the fact that it does possess its own story plot, but I'm wondering if the Four Gods concept was based on Fushigi Yuugi's. :) |

Err. Tee hee. :3 Many thanks for your help guys (maraming salamat!). Nope, it's not in my heart because I don't have one. Haha corneeeey. :P Seriously, I don't know the answers. I did one heck of a research here. I even tried wikipedia (no help). But anyway, thanks. I might as well discover for myself, but if ever there's someone out there who can enlighten this hungry heart, please do reply. :3 @soli Aww. Don't be like that! It doesn't matter how old you are. Don't degrade yourself because you're young. Embrace it! :D I'm still the same as I was when I was in 5th grade (from the Japanimation fixation, down to the height), and I'm already 16. Grade 5 was awesome for me and I hope you're enjoying it just as much. :) Okay, off topic. I'll just sit here and wait for someone to reply. |

Really?? Well, no wonder. Yes, I am Filipino. Filipina to be more exact. And yes, I watch it on QTV, but I only started this week so I'm way behind and feeling quite screwed. It must be so awesome having separate computers at home. :) Okay, let's not talk about this now. Waaaay off topic. And you'd better delete that double post. :) Are there other Filipinos here who watch Haruka on QTV? |

The Four Gods are originally Chinese. They were brought over to Japan a very long time ago, enough time for some of the original Chinese folklore to morph into more Japanese ideas and pronunciations. 8 is more of a lucky number in Chinese than in Japanese, so I'd guess that the anime is based more on the original Chinese myth of the Four Gods than Japanese (which is more inline with Fushigi Yuugi) |
