A sound device error occurs in rare instances, depending on your network and hardware configurations, and those of the person you are trying to call. We are working hard to eliminate this problem. Please go through our sound set up guide and see if it helps to fix your problem. We also recommend that you try to update your sound card drivers to the latest version. If currently you are using a non full duplex sound card, please update to a full duplex sound card. Very restrictive corporate firewalls: Skype currently works with most standard firewalls and gateway configurations. However, some very strict corporate firewalls which only allow TCP connections on a restricted number of ports may not allow Skype to connect at the moment. We are working on resolving this issue and hope that Skype will be able to function on the majority of firewalls with no configuration required. If your firewall does not allow you to use Skype, please inform your system administrator so that they can allow the appropriate access necessary for Skype to run. Language file support: Languages other than English may contain English phrases for new features which are rolled out in beta version. Language files are updated on the fly. Adding and authorizing buddies: Currently both users must be online at the same time (at least within one week) to authorize each other to be added to the Contacts. This process will be improved over time. Skype might start using 100% of CPU if you have TotalRecorder software installed and it is set as default I/O device for Skype. To avoid this change the I/O devices to your soundcard or USB Phone in the Skype options menu or change the default Windows I/O device from the Windows Control Panel to your soundcard or USB Phone. Skype currently has problems working while the following software is installed and running on your PC: ZoneAlarm in combination with Windows 98, Steganos Internet Anonymizer 5.0 |
