Here is the gallery of screengrabs from the 57th NHK Kouhaku which has been finished yesterday. I will post the pictures that are more interesting, while the other pics are reduced to links. I used my Nokia 3250 to take those screengrabs. Expect some of the pics to be grainy (some of them monochromatic) because my cable reception has been so bad recently that the picture quality is not good and at times, the colors disappear and reappear (I've been to three TV sets in fact just to get the best picture). The intro is all about love and so happens that it is the theme of this year's Kouhaku.   Team hosts Yukie Nakama and Masahiro Nakai of SMAP as the welcoming committee!  First up for the Reds: mihimaru GT  w-inds pitches up for the Whites. BoA  We have some Ultramen in the house!  I usually skip the enka, but this is a duet. Seabo  Believe me; Takeshi Kitayama (young dude above) sings enka. GAM (Great Aya and Miki) and Morning Musume Aqua Timez Suga Shikao Ayaka Hirahara in her ostrich gown   Kenichi Mikawa's gimmick for this year: have a long skirt.  What do you know, it's the Monkey King! Ai Otsuka Orange Range (Once again, live in Okinawa. Is Tokyo's weather so cold that they have to keep themselves in Okinawa?)  Unless you lived in isolation; you can't forget Ken Watanabe! Rimi Natsukawa Akira Fuse doing John Lennon - in English!  These three will teach you some English (although their term for "Kouhaku Uta Gaseen" looks like a definition straight out of Wikipedia) Bonnie Pink The Gospellers  It's halftime; and you have a minute to vote! Ayaka starts to sing right after the news break.  Halftime results: the teams split the cellphone and digital TV votes. WaT Ayumi Hamasaki  Sukima Switch (Check out the afro) Mika Nakashima Tokio    It's 2006 year in revue!  It's So Taguchi (of the St. Louis Cardinals)  It you think this cute, you should have seen Akiko Wada and another woman look like old maids as dolls. aiko PornoGraffitti  Actually, this is a guy named Yakkun dressed as a schoolgirl.     Sachiko Kobayashi in another robot. This time in four stages.  Comedy twins; double the laughter.  DJ Ozma flying Angela Aki (wore the same T-shirt with her name on it the whole night) Masashi Sada Kiyoshi Hikawa, the prince of enka Miki Imai Hideaki Tokunaga Akiko Wada  This is Masafumi Akikawa and his specialty is opera. Kobukuro Kumi Koda Dreams Come True SMAP, the immortal boyband  The last performer of the show, Saburo Kitajima leading a festival of sorts.  Voting time again!  White team has the support of the people! How about the judges?  Ball counting time... the score is... 5 - 13+ White team wins for the second time in a row! How do you like the pics?
