should i take japanese or spanish next year?? ive had this dilemma for 5 months now...i REALLY REALLY REALLY want to take japanese, but more ppl speak spanish here in america... :(

| I would take japanese because since not many people speak it you can say things they dont know and i am in my 3rd year of french and no one really ever uses it. So take japanese and be the unique kid |

| I personaly agree with chidoriochibi. U should go for both if possible. Then u can speak their language plus a little extra to impress them. Go for both especially Japanese. Go Go Go!!! |

Er, just take japanese... spanish is a romance language, so it's easier to learn on your owm.
The world would be a much nicer place if people only used guns on themselves.

japanese is the best choice. Spanish can be learned by your own. just learn what you want

well, asking on an anime forum, you will proably only get japanese overall, and i say the same as well. For a langage, choose the one you are most likely to use in the future.

I suggest Spanish. It is more widely spoken than Japanese/Nihongo afterall, so it would be more useful. ======================================================== |

i would rather take japanese, but you are right in one thing more people talk spanish in america thatn japanese, then, i live in south america, i could help you learning spanish, and you can help me learning japanes, what do you say?

i would really love to learn japanese language. it would be cool to understand something someone else does not.

Japanese, because Spanish can be learned easily and Japanese cannot, as it has kanji and the kana alphabets. Spanish can be spelled using the English alphabet, and it is a romance language, which makes it even simpler.  |

i've taken both. you could do that? but who would want to put themselves through all of that...? :P spanish is more similar to english so it might be easier for you to pick up. japanese may take a lil longer... and i can guarentee that japanese will take over your life because you will have to study A LOT! i just finished my 3rd semsester of japanese and i can finally have a life now! :D

Japanese! 1.It's much easier to learn since you like anime , and you can here those seiyuus talking and you automatically gets the accent and new vocabularies easily 2.You won't use Spanish that much , compared to Japanese 3.Be different!What's so wrong about it!If you learn JApanese , then it will eventually be your advantage , because few people speak it , and you can speak whatver you want in Japanese without being afraid of hurting somebody else's feeling or whatver 4.You said you like Japanese!Why don't you just go for it?

hmm... i agree, asking in an anime forum, well.. you knew what you would be getting. That aside though, I would want to learn japanese not really because of the animes... but because of the songs. ^_^ |

times like this... you gotta go back to the real world for a bit... (no offense... but here... you got to ask if you'll need this in the future... will you use Spanish/Japanese at your workplace?...etc...) You know... My mother is a pilipino and my dad is a japanese... my mother wanted me to learn english rather than japanese... now that im... well... "good enough" in my english skills... nothing is stopping me now from learning Jap... Why? because.. 1. in my life... i have never even seen my father's side of the family (I have never seen... nor heard anything about my father's life in Japan...) 2. the closest thing i ever got to Japan is when my dad visits and anime (hence... my addiction) 3. I actually plan to work there... (Speaking English and Japanese will give me plenty of job opportunities)  Kneel Before the Great and Benevolent Cow! |
