seemingly impossible of games without walkthrough
Link | by on 2007-02-06 23:04:14
Yea, there are like games where I would feel like giving up if there wasn't a walkthrough to even get my through. Anyone ever heard of Ephemeral Phantasia? I think that game is just crazy to even finish without a walkthrough. And even though it is an old game...and my sister beat it without a walkthrough which I dunno how, i could not beat Beyond the Beyond for PS1 ^^;;

Himmm.... Alone in the Dark would have drivin me crazy if it didn't have a walkthrough as well as FF VII when you look for the key of the ancients. and then theres Resident Evil 3 nemesis, gut stuv\ck at the part where you look for the batterry for the lift.

Most of the games that have these difficult puzzles to solve are the ones that i will need a walkthrough....for example:

ICO...some of those puzzles are hair pulling frustrating

Valkyrie Profile: Silmeria...the puzzles in the Seraphic Gate (photon puzzles) are absolutely nuts.

I've never really needed a walkthrough for any game I've played. There is one though that I used a walkthrough for because I couldn't get past one of the parts.

Star Ocean: Till the End of Time - I got lost in one of the sections and couldn't figure out how to get back. Took about an hour inside this maze place and finally found what I was looking for then I got lost looking for the exit (Never had the right items on me to escape.) so I had to look up a walkthrough.

Other than that though there has never really been a game I had to get a walkthrough for.

There was one in Prince of Persia but I got through the puzzle just as I was about to look for a walkthrough.

i try not to use walkthtoughs when i play my games for the first time especially in rpg games. then after beating it i use the walkthrough to uncover secrets that i was not able to unlock...

the only times use walkthroughs in games at play is when i play games that involves some really hard puzzles like vagrant story and prine of persia

Yea, Vagrant story was pretty hard when it came to puzzles alright XD Then, there was Alundra too, fun game XD

Hey Jonathan XD Play Ephemeral Phantasia, and I will bet that you WILL need a walkthrough haha. My sister played 31 hours into it...and she only got 2 characters which she needed to get, and not even close to the end lol. This game doesn't really have puzzles, but some places have mazes which are annoying, though i'm not counting those in the time it takes to beat.

@Mrtakeiteasy- I have played about half way through Ephemeral Phantasia, but stopped for two reasons.

1. I had it rented for only a week or two and it had to go back.

2. Never really got into the story of it.

But I never found it hard or confusing. Pretty average. It did have a few hard parts.

I'll agree with Jonathon on Star Ocean, It was hard to get through it without a guide. I find the fire emblem games hard to get through without guides. since It was mostly trial and error without the for the first run. And Also for warcraft 3 battle.net, even though there technicaly isnt a guid for the internet based play anything that can help you with micro (which i suck at) is a great help.

Games without walkthroughs? Simple...

Rhythm-based games (Bust-a-Groove, DDR, Guitar Freaks, Drummania etc...) and certain Simulation games (like Mocap Boxing, Police 911)

These games dont require walkthroughs... They require practice

Halo doesn't need a walkthrough. You go to one area shoot guys while getting from point A to B, then rinse, wash, repeat.

Did you say you did find the Vs mode in SO3 using the walkthrough? I came upon it by accident while I was searching around.

Back in the days of me playing the pokemon games, I only used walkthroughs to find secret stuff or items.
Oh, and they helped out with finding out the legendary pokemon or secret battles/wars that you could've gotten involved with to make you stronger.
They were before the pokemon league I think, too, so it helped out in the end, lol.

Other then that, I don't really need a walkthrough for any games, nor have I played a lot with walkthroughs available to use.

I hardly turn on the PS2 or so, anymore. XD
