What do you think about this? GMA 7 will air Fullmetal Alchemist. Do you think that they will just mess it up? (I mean the dubbing) or do you think it will be cool? |

| well i thing GMA7 has done a nice job in dubbing one piece coz some of the character voices sound alike in the tagalog version and the jap version so i just hope they do almost the same good job in FMA |

agreed with moderator , dubbing sucks ass.... and btw , its only me or....there's a lot of pilipino on the net , everywhere i go....mirc, gamefaqs <--in srw section there's a thread similar like this with "Are there any pilipino out there?" wow...they sure have some deep relationship somehow.......
kid these days doesn't know the difference between "true anime" and "anime for marketing purpose"

really? hmm, i thought filipinos only dominite this mmorpg site i play on. anyway, filipino dubbing is fine with me, as a filipino. does the quality of dubbing(or dubbing itself) really contribute that much to the pleasure of viewing? you see, id rather have it dubbed than read the subtitles.

I think it'll be fine if it's dubbed in Tagalog. I actually thought the Filipino dub of Rave is better than the English dub, and the same for Zoids: Chaotic Century....well, that's just me at least. I think English dubs suck (biggest example: Initial D), so instead of watching anime on TV, I suck the life outta my wallet for money to buy anime DVDs. .........my mommy says it's a bad habit ^^ |

Well, I really hope that the Filipino dubbing of FMA will be as good, if not better than what they have done with One Piece or Hajime no Ippo... I guess it all depends on the proper casting of voices... |

| I think it'll be fine...fullmetal alchemist is great... just in case you guys dont like the dubbing or stuff, u can just buy the dvds..hmmm... that way u cud read the subtitles instead of listening to the dubbings like what i do =] i guess the cheapest place to buy the original dvds is at greenhills... |

As far as I know, the dubbing for Fullmetal Alchemist hasn't even started yet. And so is for Hamtaro (I talked with one of the dubbers). The 2 anime are handled by Telesuccess group, and they have good dubbers, but the problem is that Tele has only limited cast. Around.. only 8, 9 or 10 dubbers I guess? About One Piece, well, the dubbers for One Piece were from ABS-CBN, so no issues there XD. ABS-CBN has the coolest Filipino dubbers. ======================================================== |

I remember the last time I went to the Philippines back last July, they had an anime channel where they even showed subtitled anime (I remember them showing DNA^2, Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex, and Ranma 1/2)

Yeah. DNA^2 and GITS: Stand Alone Complex were aired on Animax-Asia. Unfortunately for some subtitle-freak pinoys, most anime on Animax-Asia are now in English dubs. Ranma 1/2 was aired on AXN-Asia. The latter still airs anime on original Japanese, inaccurate English subs, but unfortunately again, there's only one anime you could find on that channel nowadays. ======================================================== |

i think the filipino dubbing will be good. Its a universal truth that American Dubbing of animes just suck. and ghost fighter( yuu yuu hakusho) dubbing was actually pretty good, and so was dragon ball. Well anyway, lets just hope they do a good job with it, unlike their american counterpart... Which really sucked ass. |

well, i guess it all depends on how they(the dubbers & other people involved) do their work(if they do it just for money or seriously) that makes the dubbing good or not. but i think that the filipino dubbing is good compared to english ones(no offense! this is my opinion) cuz, from what i noticed, filipino dubbers go with what's really being said in the japanese version unlike in english where they change - and cut - a LOT. but, if you really like the anime, i dont think you'll mind anymore, just as long as you get the flow of the story. but if you really donlike dubs, buy the original(japanese dub0 ^_^ |

By the way, last night, both abs-cbn and gma showed anime movies for their sunday night movie slots, and I have to say the Yu Yu Hakusho dub was utterly bad... The Rurouni Kenshin dub was a whole lot better... Abs-cbn wins that bout hands down... ^_^ |

huwaaat? i didnt know gma showed yu yu hakusho... but i did know about abs showing rurouni kenshin. i have both movies (both in english dub) and i have to say, the way they dubbed yu yu hakusho was really bad o.0 the way they dubbed rurouni kenshin in filipino, i say im really proud; they've done a great job!(the series) i wasnt able to watch the movies last night so i cant really comment.... who else have watched it? |

well, the video quality of the yu yu hakusho movie they showed last night was very bad, it almost looked like they were showing an anime made in the 80's... And only a few of the tv dub voice actors actually made it in the movie, I missed the excellent tv-Kuwabara voice... And about the rurouni kenshin movie, did that happen immediately after the Kyoto Arc? after the fight with Shishio? |

umm para saken mas Ok ang dubbing ng GMA kaysa sa ABS Ang pangit kasi ng dubbing ng Naruto, sasakit ulo mo sa panget na dubbing. I hope GMA does FMA justice...

The tagalog dub of Naruto was good for me, that's because I first saw the tagalog version before I saw the original. When I first saw the latter, I find Naruto's voice really strange, but I got used to it sooner. (v_v) ======================================================== |
