I know I am a picky listener. Most of us who has some music training would probably be picky to some degree. I would like to hear from all of you what your definitions of good/bad music are? I would like you to be specific. Answers like "just because" or "it's cool" is not good enough. Something more descriptive would be helpful. Here is a list of things/questions I go by to judge a song for its goodness: Is it catchy? Does it have a catchy phrase or tune? Is it memorable? can I hum it after the first hearing? Are the lyrics appropriate/moving? Songs that meet my standards are: God knows Snow Rain The end of the world Shiawase no iro saikou no kataomoi Suna no Shiro My destiny |

Good anime music is music that is about fight, surviving, killing, love, and life. Both in english and other laguages. Bad anime music is almost anything in Operha. I love Wolfs Rain Operha!
Look deep within your soul and you will find the spirit of the wolf.

My definition of a good song is the beat of the song, whether it suits my needs. And if it matches my feelings. |

Good: songs with good lyrics(can be a song without any vocal too), good rhythm and melodies. Bad: songs with lyrics that doesn't make any sense(it really irritates me), too much slow songs(that irritates me too). Anything that is too much exagerating gets on my nerves... |

I think that the singer's voice depends if the song is good or not. I wouldn't listen to a song with a high-pitch or broken voice singer. Songs that meet my standard Invoke Pride Realize(Nami Tamaki's version) Get Wild Result Rain Heart of the Sword Rewrite Chance D-TECHNOLIFE Ichirin no Hana Rolling Star Shounen Hearts

a good song is... musical. I personally favor edgy and catchy indie, jrock, and krock (usually... i find some exceptional pop songs every now and then--aiko and mr. children anybody?) a good anime song accompany's the feeling that the opening (or ending) animation aims to achieve. |

Good song! Is one that has a tune that matches my likings, that is, wether it's catchy or have beautiful high pitched melodies. Other categories would be the vocal. I like voices like angela and kokia... Then rythem, because their songs have a lot of high tunes although their voices are average. Oh, maybe musics with nice beats can be considered a good song for me. For example, T.M.Revolution's songs... Then a bad song is a song that butcher my ears, like maximum the hormone's songs! I've only heard them from deathnote's soundtrack but that convinced me already to not listen to any other songs sung by them... other than the above categories, all are neutral songs... Not so good, not so bad. Well, that was a very subjective view of mine... :D |
