What is much more cooler? Believing in God and do the right things so that we will not be punished and go to hell or doing good things eventhough we do not believe in God. But if we do not believe in God, what is our purpose on doing good things? Is God good, even though he set loose all the evil things in this world? Is God all knowing? If he is then why did she let Eve aet the friut of truth even though he knows that will happen? Do God wants everyone to know him? If he is then why did he let Tarzan alone in the jungle without any trace of anything that God exist? Will everyone be saved if we believe in God?(I'm not lowering religion, please bare with me) O_o Sorry everyone!! |

In youre first and third opinion, I think that you are making God selfish, He did those calamities just to be noticed? What a childish thing to to just like a baby crying for her mother to notice him and why will he let Tarzan be alone? Is he somekind of a test subject for God? On your second opinion, I think the issue here is "why did God made that fruit on the first place? Did he not believe on his creation? He's all powerful then to make good people. On your fourth opinion, this is where we agree.. nyahahahahaha.. But how can we be saved without the help of God? |

I am not trying to beat anyone with religion but since we are talking about God, I would have to use the Bible as a reference. In the Bible, it is said, (I am paraphrasing here) that it is better to do good and not know God than to know God and do good according to his will. This is similar to your wife telling you (for those who aren't married, you might not understand ^_^) that you should have done ______ right without her telling you. You fill in the blank. Is God good, even though he set loose all the evil things in this world? Just because some things are evil doesn't mean it can't exist. In fact, there must be evil for God to be good. Otherwise, how do we know God is good. This is the idea of dichotemy. Is God all knowing? If he is then why did she let Eve aet the friut of truth even though he knows that will happen? Are you sure God is a she? Boy, that's a can of worm you are opening. -_-' Anyway, Eve had a choice to make it is up to her to make that choic. God did say, later in the Bible, that "I lay before you life and death, choose life so that you may live." It is the ability to choose according to our will that sets us apart from mere animals. Since we are created in the image of God, and God has free will to do as he/she/it pleases, it would be natural to assume that we also have free will to choose as we please. Do God wants everyone to know him? If he is then why did he let Tarzan alone in the jungle without any trace of anything that God exist? Tarzan was with God. He is closer to God than we ever were, or at least he was living in God's handy work. It is people that keep us away from God. Will everyone be saved if we believe in God?(I'm not lowering religion, please bare with me) O_o The real question is will YOU be saved if YOU believe in God? Salvation is a personal choice and a gift from God, provided that you DO believe in salvation. One cannot earn it. It is like a Christmas gift, given to you out of love. Sorry everyone!! As long as this is an intelligent and meaningful conversation. There is nothing to be sorry about. Cheers. ![]() |
Re: Do you believe in God?

Well, first of all, I do believe that a higher supernatural force, a god (or gods), exists. However, I believe that after guiding the earth into existence and creating the laws of nature, he left the world to evolve and progress on its own. I believe that his authority is only in the afterlife, where he judges us after death. What is much more cooler? Believing in God and do the right things so that we will not be punished and go to hell or doing good things eventhough we do not believe in God. But if we do not believe in God, what is our purpose on doing good things? I think that all people do good things for physical/emotional gain, to avoid suffering, or in return for a favor done towards them. Those who believe in God follow his teachings so that they are not punished in hell and may go to heaven after they die. They can also find comfort in the belief that they are a good person. Those who do good things because of their own moral code gain a similar self-satisfaction. When people do nice things for friends and family, they are doing them in return for the care and affection they have received from them. Some people are kind to others in the hopes that others will be kind to them in return or for a specific benefit such as money or power. And those who don't do good things or who do bad things are disliked by those around them and cannot do well in society. Is God good, even though he set loose all the evil things in this world? I don't think that God is responsible for the evils in the world. Earthquakes, tornadoes, floods, and etc are just natural disasters; they are not caused by supernatural force. The growing and spreading of disease is largely due to increasing human interaction. The major problems in the world today such as war, crime, poverty, and hunger are all the cause of human beings, as are vices such as lying and cheating. Is God all knowing? If he is then why did she let Eve aet the friut of truth even though he knows that will happen? I don't believe that God is all-knowing. If he were, that would mean that he would know what would happen in every person's life, and therefore all lives would be fixed according to fate. In that case, from the moment you are born, you would be destined to be a good or bad person. But then it wouldn't make sense for God to judge humans and reward or punish them accordingly, since they would have no control over their lives. It is because humans can make choices that God cannot foresee that they can be judged by their actions. It is because Adam and Eve made the choice to eat the fruit that they are punished. Do God wants everyone to know him? If he is then why did he let Tarzan alone in the jungle without any trace of anything that God exist? I personally don't believe that God interferes with human lives, so I don't think he had anything to do with Tarzan being left in the jungle (though the writer might have a different view). And if God wanted all people to know he was real, wouldn't he provide mankind with undeniable proof of his existence? Will everyone be saved if we believe in God? Just because people believe in God, does not mean that they will be saved. In the past, people did horrible things in the name of God (Manifest Destiny, the Salem Witch trials, etc). As long as you are a good person, you should be rewarded in the afterlife, whether you believe in God or not.

I believe mankind isn't mature enough for something like religion anyway, so... Nor will it probably ever be, and should we become mature enough, we wouldn't need religion anymore anyway. In my opinion, the Bible was never meant to be taken literally ( nor any other religious book ). Many wars have been fought over the years for many reasons, but it's astonishing how many have been fought over religion. Funny some people make war in order to defend a God wanting peace. If God truly exists, I bet he must be pretty ashamed of us... unless he's Mars or something. .oO° Life's THE CURE, the rest are details! °Oo. |
Re: Do you believe in God?

Religion = cool? I'm confused, did I miss the memo? I wrote a few drafts that ended up flaming religion instead of staying to the topic so I am going to neglect to express my frustrations with our shortcomings as religious human beings and just answer the questions. Doing good deeds, relative to our perspective ofcourse, is just as simple as our own choice to do so. Must we drag God into it so that he can add incentive or punishment to any certain dwed? Let your own conscience be the judge of that and live your life accordingly. We have been using God to pound morals and ethics into us for a long time now. Which hey, it's good when you're a kid because it's all you can really understand. If I take the lollipop, a big dude in a toga is going to cram a lightning bolt up my a**. But if I work hard to get money so I can buy the lollipop then I get 100 virgins, and hey who wouldn't want 100 virgins? As we grow older we tend to shed these simplistic concepts and get down to the philosophy of religion. Then we realize that the right thing is the right thing to do whether God is looking over our shoulder or not. So just do it. I have to agree that I don't think God has anything to do with me not winning to lottery, you not not getting your wishes granted, or anything about the world raining toads. Because obviously that's the government's fault(sarcasm). If we were to look at God is being good or evil he'd have to be both. Almost every concept of God is thta he is infinite and all that jazz so he is the creator and the destroyer. If you wanna know more about that kind of God then go read up on Hinduism and the avatars. Even then the Hindus got it right in creating the concept of Brahman nirguna, the nirguna being without traits or characteristics. He is the concept of infinity in the truest sense we can describe in our obviously limited communications skills. Oh so someone thinks our communications skills are perfect, then tell me how far yellow is? That's a favorite quote from one of my professors. My interpretation of the God vs. humanity relationship is one of a parent and child relationship. When one is thrown into parenthood they aren't automatically the best at it. Free will is an unpredictable thing now isn't it? I like how you threw the he/she reference in there. It is fitting because we do not know whether man or woman came first and nor should we place gender onto an infinite being. The descriptive terms we use unconsciously are picked up and slowly skew the interpretations of the many people afterwards. So when it comes to religion you have to go with what you feel. We can't all "know" God. It's like we only see glimpses of him. Even so he does show us parts but we cannot see them. It revealed some things to the Jews, other to the CHristians, even more to the Hindus, and so on and so forth. God could be showing us a great many things but if we are sitting in the dark then how can we hope to see them? Only when we come to together and try to flip the lights on and remove our blinders can we start to build up relative concept of God. I'm not real big into salvation, I'm good with the minutes I got on this dirtwad. If there was no afterlife then I'd be completely content with that. There's something about sitting around for all eternity that would fry my brain. Saiyuki anyone? If you have any questions or want to inquire further on these topics, feel free to contact me because I'm going to stop here so I don't have a stroke. So yeah to quote Phillip J. Fry, "Wow, did everything just taste purple for a minute?" |

Re: Do you believe in God?

I usually think that religion is an explanation for the unknown, like myths and legends. However it is a powerful, psychological force. It's true that countless people have died or done stupid things because of religious acts and reasons. The Salem witch hunts and buddhists lighting themselves on fire are examples. If there is a god, I think he got bored of toying with us and now observes to see whether we kill ourselves off or not. I personally beleive only in Luck, and the fact that it hates me.
The next witty thing I think of and remember will likely end up here.

Re: Do you believe in God?

This is what I believe: (answer to andvari28) -I believe in God, the Creator of all things. -He has a purpose for everyone, and has a reason why things happen in life. -Read the bible, then its up to you to believe or not. -He didn't "set loose" the evil things in this world, people do evil things because they have free will, which God gave us. -He is all knowing. As I told you, we have free will so even though God knows what will happen to Eve, it was Eve who disobeyed God. -Tarzan? LOL you're funny. -The only way to be saved is to believe in Jesus Christ who God sent to pay for our sins, and to accept Him in your life. Only through Jesus, by grace, can we be saved. It is not by religion or going to church or doing good things all the time. Read John 3:16. Again, its all your choice if you want to believe or not. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

What is much more cooler? Believing in God and do the right things so that we will not be punished and go to hell or doing good things eventhough we do not believe in God. But if we do not believe in God, what is our purpose on doing good things? some people are actually saying that they "believe" in God, but deep in their minds they have doubts, they only say that so they wanted to go to heaven or something...one of those people is me, I believe in Him, but it's hard to determine whether I do or not. That's why the only thing to find out is when you end your life. I'm a Christian, I was baptized to believe Him, so there's nothing I can do. Is God good, even though he set loose all the evil things in this world? I think God lets loose all of the evil things for us to have faith in Him, to have courage. If there's no such thing as evil in this world there wouldn't be a word called, "challenge". Is God all knowing? If he is then why did she let Eve aet the friut of truth even though he knows that will happen? I think God already decides your fate once you were born, there's nothing he can do to change that as you grow up, so if Eve ate the fruit of truth then she might be destined to eat it. That's why you can't change the past. Do God wants everyone to know him? If he is then why did he let Tarzan alone in the jungle without any trace of anything that God exist? Does Tarzan exist? XD well anyway, God doesn't actually want everyone to know him, otherwise that would be hypocritical. He lets the people find out themselves. Will everyone be saved if we believe in God?(I'm not lowering religion, please bare with me) O_o Saved? I'm not sure about how you refer 'saved' because people die, and that's it. Apocalypse will come, but we will never know when. ![]() |

Re: Do you believe in God?

Just a point to clarify: The story of the Creation in the bible was never meant to be taken literally. The first few books in the bible...genesis up to whichever book the story of noah's ark is in, are all non-historical. religion teachers have said so themselves. In conclusion: The bible, in general, was never meant to be taken literally. and if there is anyone here who is basing the truth in the bible and books of the same sort, not to offend any religious groups or anything, but the bible, and all other religious scriptures, has no scientific data to back up the accuracy of its accounts. science has more truth in it. but we still cannot fully confirm that either. I believe in science more than I do in religion, take note, religion. i believe in the existence of a higher being (or two... or more). But I do not know the nature and identity of that entity. I am an agnostic, and an apostate of the roman catholic religion If you live in this world, then live in it. Don't try and mix another world with this world. When i say another world, I mean the world of the unknown. All I can say is, I do not know anything about god/gods, and I will never know anything about god/gods until who-knows-when. Maybe god/gods does/do not even exist. Humans are in constant search for the truth. So most of the things posted in this forum are merely assumptions... including mine. Even science just might be an assumption. WHO KNOWS? NO HUMAN DOES.

do i believe in GOD? yes...i am a believer, i am a man of faith Is God good, even though he set loose all the evil things in this world? God may sent those evils in the world to test us if we human fall to temptation...which we happen to fall for most of the time... Is God all knowing? If he is then why did she let Eve aet the friut of truth even though he knows that will happen? he warned eve about the apple...and he let eve eat the apple since he gave them freedom to...wouldnt it be right if eve herself stopped and think what she did was wrong istead of acting like a puppy who needs to be scolded again and again to determine right and wrong? Do God wants everyone to know him? If he is then why did he let Tarzan alone in the jungle without any trace of anything that God exist? tarzan? in my opinion God is EVERYTHING. you dont have to literally praise him? (heck we dont even know his name)aslong as you believe there is this ONE GOD. as long as you have that faith in him your good to go...even without religion Will everyone be saved if we believe in God? yes and no...so if a axe wielding murder who killed thousands said he believe in God does that mean he'll go to heaven even if he repents from his sin? well kinda...a nun in our parish talked about purgatory. a place between heaven and hel (no its not earth) where souls pay for their sins before they can go to heaven...in simple terms if you die you go to purgatory for years so you can pay for your sins then you go to heaven. then if you are bad you go to hell...(simple aint it) |

Re: Do you believe in God?

before i say anything, i just wanna say that I'm an atheist, so whatever i say, it's all biased, so of course i believe in not believing in god and doing good things is cooler. I'm not very deep so i don't think about 'purposes' and stuff. my logic goes something like this: people are dead much more longer than they're alive, so in retrospect, life is a vacation. Who worries about after the vacation when they're ON the vacation? so i don't worry about going to hell too much, i mean, i only have one life, i'm not going to spend it worrying about what comes after. if i do a good thing, i feel good for about five minutes, and then i forget about it. as for the concept of god (if there is one), he is god, after all. i mean, if you think about a being with all the power to create, destroy, why in the world should he be purely good? what if he's like us, not black and white but gray? he created all life, so why shouldn't he get a little entertainment out of playing around with humans? maybe our lives are more entertaining to him if Eve ate the fruit of truth. is he is really god, why should he care of everyone knowing him? all life end, we'll know after we die. with all the evangelists in the world, what's a few non-believers to him? it's not likely he'll get mad because a few didn't believe. even if he is, he can always strike us down. |

Is God good, even though he set loose all the evil things in this world? Let me answer this question with a hypothetical story if you will. So a man was getting a haircut from a barber and the barber asked the man. Barber: So, what do you do for a living? Man: I'm a pastor. Barber: Oh, I don't believe in God. Pastor: Why is that? Barber: I just don't see why such a great God would let bad things happen to his world and let people suffer. It doesn't make sense to me. Pastor: Hm, I see. The pastor paid the barber and left once the haircut was finished. Then the pastor saw a homeless man with long hair and quickly ran back to the barber and proclaimed... Pastor: I don't believe in barbers! Barber: What? How can you say that? I just cut you hair. Pastor: I just saw a homeless man with long hair, where were you? Barber: But he never came to me. Pastor: Well maybe more people should go to God. |
