anime OP and ED promoting new artists
Link | by MiCHiYo μ on 2007-04-20 01:54:19 (edited 2007-04-20 02:43:35)
We all probably noticed how a couple of artists who are well known now, such as
YUI, JUNE, Asian Kung-Fu Generation, Kawabe Chieko and others, have risen to
stardom just by having a debut through an anime release. JUNE, for one, is a Korean
entering the Japanese mainstream, and had to learn Japanese in order to record with
Rony Iecords. he even got three promotional videos done after his first debut
single. Rie fu, an artist who is based in London, United Kingdom, had the
longest running international single on the (i forgot what) charts, retaining a
position not below 30 for about 19 weeks. Is anime now the biggest and most
influenceable way to promote new JPop artists? What is your opinion on this method
of promotion? Will it do better for the other upcoming or next generation sets of
rising artists? Why does it seem to work only with JPop+anime?

I most certainly would want to hear your opinions. I haven't dropped my two cents
yet, and before I do, I'd like get everyone's views first. ^^

Other examples: BoA and Younha - both Koreans who are also in the Japanese music industry.

I think anime is a big influence. But also in Asia, TV shows and sitcoms and dramas are other ways of promoting Pop artists and bands.
And I think anime will definitely help in promoting upcoming artists/bands since japanese animation is an international hit and has a lot of fans everywhere.

Recently got addicted to Hitman Reborn! the manga and that lead to the addiction of the anime----->anyways! Reborn has some REALLY good OP and ED songs. So far all of them are good. Waiting on the new OP called Boys & Girls to be uploaded (<---alsoo extremely good)

ALSO, noticed Lena Park (a famous Korean ballad singer) recently sang for the OP in Romeo X Juliet. Should check that out. ^^v

Mostly all the songs I hear, I search 'em on youtube (to see [possibly] live videos of the song).
BLEACH has a few of those artists.
JUNE and YUI were mentioned, and others too.
I think AKFG's been around for a while now; not sure.
Younha - both Koreans who are also in the Japanese music industry.

Woah, I never knew that.
I thought that... never knew that, sweet! XD

uhm Aya Hirano
Suzumiya Haruhi did not only made her popular as a Seiyuu but also in her singing career.

Just recently, I think Stereopony came on the scene. They're really young (17-18) and I can believe that they scored a huge win with their debut song as a Bleach ending.

Heh, Hitomi Takahashi has a killer voice, but she was only discovered because they had this huge contest to find someone who can sing the new Gundam Seed Destiny opening.
