>>They called it the Rape of Nanjing. Last I heard, it wasn't in the history books of Japanese schools.

as far as i know, this whole story isn't found in some other countries'(which i do not intend to tell) history textbooks as well. just my personal opinion but, i guess japan's not the only one modifying history textbooks. come on, some students around me don't even know who's Hitler.

>>And of coz it doesnt take a genius to know why Chinese dont like the JP people.

not incorrect, but i'd add in the word "most". unless you mean "Chinese" as in "people in China". from what i know, some Chinese did benefit from the Japanese during that period, and their families are in good terms with each other till now.

and i quite agree with the phrase "someone has to be proud of something". ;)

>Quote: Not too many people know about the Rape of Nanjing. From what I hear, some Japanese still deny the fact that it ever happened.

The Japanese government hasn't really admitted this. Some of the people of Japan also.

Actually every country has their own pride.

Ahd yes, there is this conflict going on between Japan and all the other Asian countries, because of the war in the past.

All Asians used to fear at the sound of Japan. They used to call Japanese people Japanese terriosts (best that I can translate). You wouldn't believe the things Japanese people did to other Asians. They were the only Asian country in history who had the ambition to take over Asia.

You wouldn't like Japan either if they killed your grandparents or something (that's MOST people)

So Korea and China and other Asian countries never really forgiven Japan and Japan has never really let go of their pride from all those years ago. As long as there's no more conflicts from now on, things should settle and Asians should get along better.

I'll be waiting here. So if you come here, you'll find me... I promise.

it's true that countries like Korea and China are having a very complicated relationship with Japan (the same goes to that between China and Taiwan). maybe it's partly due to the past. but i believe the reason/cause is much deeper and.. complicated than what most of us have in our minds. politics, y'know? *sighs*

Please don't use individuals to represent the attitude of a country.

It's true that the president of Japan still goes every year to the grave of the commander who started the idea of conquring asia and pays his repects, showing that the japanese government still wants dominance over Asia.

On top of that an universal law required Japan to conpensate China's losses during the war due to the Japanese invasion. China told Japan not to pay because they were "good neighbours" but now the Japanese government is still degrading Chinese people.

And you can't say hunting down whales just for food is good.

I'm an anime freak, I like Japanese products but not the government. I just thought people should know more about history. =P
