Just wondering if anybody here knows about this anime.
Im personally a big fan and I grew up watching it.
I been trying to find the Dvds of the original 80's series with Japanese dialogue so maybe I can convince myself to learn Japanese and make my own fansub group or join one to persuade them to do it ^_^ but its almost impossible.
Anyway if anybody ahs watched it I was just wondering what your opinnions were :D.

Hey, I grew up too watching this anime! (one of many).
I just loved it, and still do. I recently looked around to see if there was a group subbing the series and to my big surprise I found out there has been made a new season of it, called Captain Tsubasa Road to 2002!
So I'm downloading the new season, and there are a lot of similarities! (only saw first ep so far)
It all starts with the story of Tsubasa, I suppose the first couple of eps are flash back to the old series for some character building and then the new stuff wil happen.
What I haven't seen yet are the fields that look as if they are placed on hills ;D
Aaah, the nostalgia..... I could reminisce all day about the old anime's I saw as a child, mostly during the 80's...I'm old skool like that ^_^
As for the old ones, just now did some research, and there have been made plenty of new seasons of it thru the 90's. Didn't know that...
The old ones I saw where these ones. And two groups tried subbing it, but they only did the 2 first eps....pitty.

yeah, its lik a trademark finisher and all the good players have one or they're deemed Crap! The shots take names of animals probably to show their speciality eg: tiger= speed and strength? pheonix= speed and curling?

This may be a little late, but does anyone know if I can buy Captain Tsubasa on DVD in the States? I saw some episodes in Spanish while I was on vacation and I got hooked.

speaking of attacks, most sports animes tend to give their characters those super attacks which can never happen in real life to make the story more interesting. even the recent sports animes like hikaru no go, and prince of tennis are like that (and the attacks gotten even more bizzare...*puhahaha*)

back to captain tsubasa, i liked the season when they're still elemantary kids, and also when they're teens in the J season. after that when thet're adults...nah, downhill for me.

Most of the attacks of Captain Tsubasa are somehow complicated like Hilga's Tiger Shot or . But the game was so great!

Hey there! Karmi-Sempai here!

Cool! I was afraid there won't be any topics under Captain Tsubasa! I'm so glad!

Okay, my advice: You don't need to learn Japanese. I'm watching it right now in Animax-Asia. It's dubbed in English. Also, I did a nine-page reasearch on it a week ago! It's very updated! For your information, all PlayStation 2 addicts, the new Captain Tsubasa game, Captain Tsubasa J: Get in the Tomorrow was just released last Cotober 19th.

Why did I watch it? Actually, when I first saw the commercials, Iwasn't really impressed. Neither did I find the first episode that interesting. When I heard that my friend stayed up late watching the movies during a school night, I ave it another chance and I loved it! Unfortunately, when I caught up with it, it was already the Meiwa-Nankatsu National Final. I had no idea what was going on! Thanks to the repeats of the series and the movies, I got to catch up on everything. I'm even ahead of my friend in what's on the in the CT world.

There's a new manga, Captain Tsubasa: Golden 23 that's being currently made.

Oh, and I just finished Captain Tsubasa ~ Road to 2002!

If you want any info or a spoiler, you can ask me all about it!
