Death Note Ending
|
Hm...spoilers for the ending? Sorry. The other day, I was wandering around the manga section in Borders when I saw the last volume of Death Note. I've been hooked on the series (I don't know why; complicated things usually aren't my style) and was elated to see that the final book was out. So, I eagerly took it home and read it. I was not upset that Near won...but WHAT. THE. ****? WHY DID THEY HAVE TO MAKE LIGHT SO UNDIGNIFIED AND PATHETIC? I was actually disappointed that he had to be so damn desperate, screaming, rolling around, and making an ass out of himself. When my friends read it, they LOVED how Light ended up begging for his life and I was wondering if I was the only one upset by it. |

Yeah, the ending KILLED the whole anime/manga. At least in the anime he wasn't as pathetic. Still pathetic, but not as pathetic as the manga.
Ug.

What a pity for such a good anime... I mean that wasn't a great way to end it... |

why make light so pitifully pathetic? whats wrong with it? with his character always being so perfect, a mistake especially a VERY BIG MISTAKE can be traumatizing...seeing that he cant do nothing to undo that mistake made him beg for his life and cry like a baby(hey i felt a bit bad too but he deserves it...frankly it was too good for him i guess hahaha i think i would want to see him rot and be miserable in that place he goes too dunno what that is)...it just goes to show that light is human...he has flaws even if he wants to be a god...he aint no god but a mass murderer...plain and simply. the end doesnt justify the means..he kills so he gets what he deserves... what annoys me is how near and mello caught him...luck was a big factor for their win unlike light's previous wins (light against L, his plans againts the fbi etc) although he was still lucky but still it was more insightful i guess...and i couldnt swallow the fact near said he and mello surpassed L (yeah right!>.>) but yeah i felt the ending a bit lacking...it just fizzled out instead of ending with a bang |

I have to admit, I wanted Light to win. I enjoyed the ending for the anime more because he wasn't as pathetic as in the manga. |

For me it was a little hard to see Light so desperate because it's so out of character, but everyone has to crack some time. |

I was really disappointed and pleased with the ending at the same time. I think that Light got what he deserved, and that's what I was happy about. I was upset that L wasn't the one who brought him to his end, but instead it was little wannabe Near. I never liked Near, even from the beginning. I would have much preferred it if the story went more like this. L catches Light, and Light is sent to jail not killed. That way they both live. I would even be okay if Near was the one who died in place of Mello XD Mello rules~ |

Un *nods* Yes, I am just saying, if L still had to.. er.. x__x, then I would rather have Mello get Light than Near. I seriously hate Near. So much. >.> |

yeah i hate that wanna be too...sure mello may be pyschotic but his character is way better than near...but overall i would still chose L...and when near said they surpassed L was the dumbest line in death note hahaha |

i loved the ending in the manga. It was a befitting way for Light to die, after all that he had done, killing and manipulating people, it just goes to show that he isn't like god as he proclaimed to be as Kira, he's just a crazed serial killer. I really couldn't stand the ending in the anime, they screwed that whole scene over, it wasn't befitting that Light died peacefully, almost with repentance. and if you couldn't tell, i really hate Yagami Light! (and the we are greater than L seen was cool, imo) |

I do agree with L being the one to capture Light over Near and Mello (I don't like those two), and I never said anything about Light being a God. Quite frankly, I think other anime/manga series would be a lot more interesting if there was a psycho mass murderer that used a f***ing piece of paper to kill people. Hahaha...I'm kidding. Yes, Light was a complete a** and he did deserve to die...just...damn, it was so pathetic. He brought shame to villains everywhere. Hahaha...in my humble opinion. |

nah there are other shameful defeats of a villian like hamdo from now and there here and there...and that guy was REALLY PATHETIC... guess one expects a dignified defeat from light not the crying and whining kind he did hahaha |

Light Yamagi was, in my opinion, one of the smartest and most cunning anime characters I have ever seen. He is a complete divergence from some other main characters: a nice guy; has a mediocre personality; diffident (*cough* Maburaho *cough cough*); gets the hotest girl(s) to fall in love with him (*cough* Maburaho *cough cough*). Light is a genius trapped in a world that he feels is morally corrupt. But, despite that, the ending of the anime was rather shocking (I haven't gotten to the end of the manga yet, but now that I know how Light goes out...) I didn't expect Near and Mello to actually catch Light. Just goes to show you that not everything you plan for goes the way you want it. But...what ever happens to Misa Amane? *SPOILER*In the final scene of the anime, we're shown her standing on the edge of a ledge in her maid costume and she closes her eyes. What happens?! |

@Noh Seyako: Highlight for spoiler: That woman isn't Misa. She's simply Kira's follower. Misa kills herself on Valentine's day, probably out of depression. |

HAHAHA!!! Nice, maybe that will help me with MY swimming lessons. As for Misa, I had no idea that was her (standing on the cliff and what not). I've only read the manga, so I assumed it was her, but I couldn't tell for certain because she wasn't hugging things and acting stupid. It bothered me that I never figured out who the random girl was at the end. |

The swimming lessons are pretty funny at first, but after several times seeing it, it isn't so funny anymore. @Taketa: The only things that I know about her are that she worships Kira (but isn't that really obvious already?) and that she isn't Misa.... |
Re: Death Note Ending

Hohoh... Wonder why everyone hates kira acting like that... The only dissapointing thing i see in the ending was how he was killed: heart attack. I thought ryuuku would have a more artistic way to kill the lowlife. It'll be thrilling if his body is scattered all over the room after some moment of extreme suffering. X3 Ryuuku, you've failed as a shinigami -_- But at least i can see light's pathetic act in the end. That lifted my heart a great deal... I've always thought that such a coward should act like that sometimes, and i've been depressed reading the volumes because i never see him show that part of his (well, L can a least makes me grin while reading this though. Too bad he failed to keep himself from dying, the subtitutes were not as good). And there comes the ending. "Splendid!" I thought, "If only light's body doesn't have a shape anymore!" So that's my thought on the ending. I don't really care who caught kira, L or Near or matsuda. It's good as long as he loses. :D |

Aw...Sai, you're so mean. Hahaha...just kidding. I feel that way about other characters, so feel free to continue! I still haven't watched the anime or the live action movie yet. Does anyone think those are better than the manga? |
