Anybody here ever check out this game before? I had it for a while, but I just installed everything a few hours ago today, so I never actually got into it until now. I dLed a few songs here and there, and started playing around for fun. It's something I can fiddle around with when waiting for anime to finish dLing.

You can basically Google 'em I guess. Simple searches like "Stepmania songs" or something like that, would work. So far, I only played on anime songs. I haven't dLed regular techno songs like in DDR yet. ;P

I played a little. I just downloaded it last week. And yea, I've only played anime songs so far~ I'm not really use to the timing yet.. And sometimes I got too attracted to the video and I'll miss.. T_T  |

Yeah, those can be a problem. ;P For some reason, I do really bad on the songs that go incredibly slow. I get mostly "greats". I think the arrows follows the beat of the song, but they can be like .1 second behind or something. Side n o t e this, but are you playing on 3.9 version, or 4.0 (new)? I want to know if there's a significant difference or something.

I've been playing this for some time. I downloaded songs from stepmania.com and actually, haven't downloaded from anywhere else -_- I do bad on very slow songs too. I actually do better on insanely fast songs, don't know why.   |

Well, it could be like when you listen to a song, you tap your finger to the beat, right? Maybe the same concept is used in StepMania; who knows? I just press the key when the sound changes or when the beat changes. It seems to work, but this might be a beginner's method of playing? (:\ Althou fast songs, sometimes have parts that are short and make your fingers twist across together. XD

I actually use that method to play. I'll play the low levels of a song first (even though sometimes it's too easy for me), and once my fingers get used to the beat, I play the higher levels. And I have this song which is pretty fast with lots of bombs, and it has a slow-down part which has many arrows packed in, and at first, it confuses me which one to press first because the arrows are so close to each other -_-. I got used to it after a while though. |

My stepmania is verion 3.9~ I have no idea what difference it have compared to 4.0 Oh yea~ I'm better at faster songs too, if I play a slow song, I'll click too early. And I really dislike it when I have to cross my fingers in order to reach the other button... Some songs.. are kinda weird.. it suddenly stops for a second and then continues.. I always miss after that.. -_-'' Yay~ O2 Jam~ Right before I first play Stepmania, I was playing O2 Jam... And when I started playing Stepmania, I got confused because I'm used to playing O2 Jam... |

I remember a song which stops its two last arrows before actually hitting the top, then move but stop again, then move very quickly >_< I think mine is ver. 4.0. Dunno what's the difference with 3.9 'cause never downloaded that one. @Rin: It won't be like that, 'cause it's (ddr-feet)+fingers, not ddr-feet+fingers. You'll have to subtract "feet" from ddr first, and that's why you can't erase ddr from both sides (why am I being such a math freak? And this is the Game section, not the Physics section :P) |

» Rin, get your mathematic Stepmania equations outta here. @.~` You could play on Beginner/Light Songs, and just adjust the speed higher and higher. That could be an easy method to get better at faster songs, on default speed, but at a harder difficulty. I saw this one video where this one guy had like, a 7000+ combo or something, on eight songs all together. A few of his songs had a bunch of bombs, too. I tried to follow just by watching but my eyes got all screwed up. XD

i have 4.0 the difernce is that 4.0 has an online feture where you connect to server and your ranked and you can play with other people if they have the same songs. and the older ones do not but most of the mods that are in 3.0 and stuff don't work on 4.0 i have been playing for a while but im not that good |

I don't have Stepmania, but a bunch of my friends do, and they all still use bemanistyle to get all of the stepcharts they have. You can download individual songs, or whole packages (i.e. all from Ultramix, SuperNOVA, DDR MAX, etc.)  |

I'm still learning, but I'm around Standard/Heavy now. I play whenever there's nothing else to do online while waiting for anime to finish dLing.

I've also had Stepmania for a while (2+ years). It's a fun little game, even more fun when you add Pump It Up to it. Just remember that speed mods are your friend. :P
