(I looked, doesn't seem to be a thread yet) Alright, so Square is continuing to pump of FF games like mad, none of them are really good (In my opinion as a gamer) so then I see this floating around on YouTube. That's right, it's some Final Fantasy game for the PSP that supposed to have most of the characters from all the games. It looks like some fighting game with a Kingdom Hearts battle system. Now, normally I would personally think this is a cool idea and be hyped to get it, but to be frank I'm not in the least bit excited. 1: Because I hated KH's mindless battle system (hated the whole game really, but that's not what I'm trying to get in to) and 2: Because it looks like it will be a total button masher. Anyway, from this vague video, what do you guys think of this?    |

Ah, we talked about this on messenger last night a little. The game's not even fully done; "Work in Progress for PSP". It does look flashy and whatnot, but it does have that KH style of gameplay. I don't even have a PSP so I won't be buying this game anyways. The cut scenes were pretty nice, as expected of FF, but yeah... Sephiroth enters in front of the wall of fire, from FFVII: AC.

Oh yeah....Ehrgeiz....i totally forgot about that game....maybe the worst game that Square ever did. Thanks Lu Bu-san for reminding us again of that piece of crap! It's probably may be the same thing as Ehrgeiz....only this time it will include well-known Square characters....not just a bunch of nobodies. I agree with Jonathon-san that i think the company is relying to heavely on their most popular franchise....that all the originality is lost. I always said ever since Hironbu Sakaguchi-san was dishonorably let go by the company (fired was more like it) the company has never regained that mistique it had. Everything they have made since that time has been all flash & absolutely no substance. FF 12 was supposed to be this grande game....i lost interest in it in my 2nd week. So some fighting game with FF characters is supposed to recapture that magic they once had....oooooh 20 years & this is what they come up with?  |

As always Izumo just nails the exact feelings I have towards this kind of thing. Well, Ehrgiez was mostly a port to PSOne and Square decided to toss in there own secret characters. It was still garbage, no doubt about that, but it wasn't really a stand alone game by Square (It was made by Dream Factory and published by Namco for the arcade.). Anyway, yes they did a terrible job of porting it and seeing that, I doubt they could pull off this. After reading some more articles, it seems to be either a fighting game or an action game (Not like there's any real difference between the two of course). Also, like Izumo was saying, Square is all about flash and has no substance now (personally I blame the merger with Enix, but I can't deny Hironbu's role in the decline) so this game here will probably carry that one. I'd say your going to get to see a bunch of pretty special moves and the rest of the game is one on one button mashers. "oooooh 20 years & this is what they come up with?" (Side note: No, this isn't what they've got in store for 20 years Izumo, turns out there's going to be Final Fantasy 1 and 2 20th Anniversary. Oh boy! FF1 and FF2 for my PSP?! That will go great with my NES, PSOne and Gameboy versions.>.>) |

| I heard its coming out in japan mid september so theyre actually almost quite finished. I might buy it if there is a chance squall lionheart is in it. hes my favorite character and id like to see him duke it out with sephiroth. but that character that looks like hes from the valkyrie profile series looks wierd. |

yes ehrgiez sucked...(but i enjoyed the simple dungeon crawl) anyway well this is what ive always been dreaming of! AN FF FIGHTING GAME WILL ALL THE CHARACTERS!...well the ff fanboy in me is screaming but somehow...it doesn't have the magical feeling i used to feel when i saw footages of ff8,9 and 10...i agree with you guys it feels like all graphics and no substance....but if its like kingdom hearts well guess its better i mean at least its not like drakengard hahaha... and that one fighting sepiroth he's the one in ff1...forgot his name...the one in the ff1 fmv who fought the dragon.. still im hoping this will be at least what fans expect or even better but then i wont be able to play this since i dont own a psp hahahaha |

I can't honestly say that I didn't see this coming, but It actually looks fairly dissappointing to me. Besides, the last time I got excited about an FF video (aside from Advent Children) was when I saw the Playstation 3 hardware demo when they redid the opening cinema from FFVII. After that a lot of rumors did start flowing around that they were going to remake it, but alas, we will never be THAT lucky. Besides, I didn't see anybody from FFVI, which dissappoints me even further.  |

Well it's a very early video of it right now, it was only shown in the Square-Enix party. There aren't that many details on it so far but it's supposed to be an all stars game so I mean how could they not include FFVI characters? There are two or three villains set for the game right now, let's hope they have all or at least most of them in there. Doesn't matter too much, I doubt I'll end up getting this, unless it turns out being a full on action game and not some KH fighting garbage. |

Oh wait they are...there are the FF 4 - 6 remakes...another one coming for DS which is FF4. They could put all of this to bed & just remake FF7...just get it over with..so everyone is FINALLY happy. If they do add FF 6 characters to this i would expect Saban to be there guaranteed....his moves are like a fighting game anyways. Don't know how Kefka would fit in all of this but it would be cool. Well we see Garland & Sephy...why not add the coolest villian in the franchise...FF 4 would be difficult to choose a villian. Golbez looks like Garland while Zeromus is well a big blob with eyes. Like most Squenix stuff they'll keep tight lips on this....just like the FF 13 stuff. Probably won't hear much about until the next TGS (Tokyo Game show)? Interested...maybe Curious....most definitely. |
