if you really can't resist it, go for a place where what you to buy are at lower prices, or maybe do canvassing =)

they laugh at us because we are different, we laugh at them because they are all the same

Make some sort of schedule or remember it mentally...
Or, create your own budget, I should say.
It'll be the base of how much you can buy per week and per month.

If you have a job, you can probably decide when to buy certain things depending on when you get your paycheck or something.

I don't go shopping very often.
I'd say I do it every few months when it comes to clothes, and I end up buying a lot when I do go shopping.
Same thing could go for anime, too.
I head out every few months so I give them time to order new titles and fill out old ones that ran out of stock. T-T

This could only get you started on your own ideas, though.
I never really paid attention in Personal Finance Class. ¯3¯

make a budget.

What is your income, what are your bills, what do you have to pay for before you can indulge in wants. Figure this out every month. Set up a special savings account for special items you want to get that are large purchases, save a little bit every month into that account for that purpose. It's kinda like a Christmas savings account, except you can decide to use it before Christmas.

Plan in advance what you are going to get and how much you are willing to pay for it.

Comparison shop. Spend all day at the mall, take notes and compare items and prices. This might actually satisfy the need to shop, without actually buying anything.

Put things on layaway or hold if you aren't sure you can't get it get cheaper somewhere else.

Find wholesale outlets or consignment stores. The first is cheaper and sometimes have not quite perfect but new brand name stuff. The second will have used, but in good condition clothing and other things. Thrift stores can also be good bargains.

Find a Freecycle group in your area. www.freecycle.org

ALWAYS USE CASH!!!
never use a credit card, that's just asking for trouble and future financial ruin.

Whenever you buy something new, throw something old out. Make this a rule so that you really have to need/want something before you buy it.

Shop with a friend (or parent) who you will listen to and will help you NOT spend money.

PLAN! PLAN! PLAN! thats all you need to do. Make more money if the budget you have made had a minus at the end.

ALWAYS have a positive figure for a column for savings. It is better to have one.

Go on a bargain shopping spree and go to those bargain shops which have lower prices to the other shops.

Don't be an impusive buyer and buy everything you see.. workout the things that is more important than the others.

If low on money then shop with parents and friends or make a loan with your parents which you can payback later. It is alway useful if you do that.

In the end you will be sucessful^^

To KILL or to be KILLED. That is your QUESTION.

i have a nifty trick that i used to do when i itched to shop:

grab three envelopes. label them as "a", "b", "c".
no, you're not going to be drawing lots. xD
your "a" envelope will always be left home. this is your "savings account".
your "b" envelope will be always with you or in your wallet.
your "c" envelope will serve as your "emergency envelope", and shall ALWAYS be stashed away in a hidden pocket in your bag.

try putting in money in envelope "a" everyday. make sure it won't go
less than $0.50. that way, you get to save $2.50 in a span of five days.
if you're an employee, make that no less than $1.00 a day. or even $2.
you'll find yourself richer by the day.

when you've got your eye on something, and it's bleeding expensive to
death, try to look for another store selling the same thing you want.
trust me: there's a store out there that's selling it for 25% off. it
happens a lot.

let's not go brand-naming. you can get the look you want for less, and
sometimes, even more than the look you want since you caught a bargain
sale in your local unbranded shops.

like what eiko mentioned, leave all credit cards at home. if you have an
atm, you should bring it, but leave it in your bag together with your
emergency envelope.

your emergency envelope should contain enough money in case you run out
of cash and you've got no food in hand... or if you're a woman, you
suddenly got your monthly visitor and forgot your pads or tamps. DON'T
touch this envelope unless it's REALLY an emergency. ima kill joo if joo
doo. xP

try keeping a notebook. this thing will be a log book of your expense.
it could feel a bit of a hassle and you'll be lazy when you start doing
it, but when you get into the habit, it's not that bad.

try avoid going to the mall, especially on weekdays. only go there when
there's something you need that's not found in your local stores.
wal-mart is included, hun. don't cheat. =P

when at home, look around your room, house, flat, whatever. list what
you NEED first, then what you WANT. remember, NEED then WANT. NEED then
WANT. NEED then WANT...

be creative, innovative, and such. instead of buying a $100 make-up set,
or a $75 pair of jeans, both of which that doesn't exactly contain all
the colours you want or quite the right fling to your body, grab a pair
of cheap jeans (that don't shrink) in a cheaper shop and add the fling
you want, or buy individuals from mac than chanel and revlon. you get my
point. and the beautiful picture. ^_^

everyone crazes about FOOD. fine-dining just to be able to eat your
favourite sushi? think again... nowadays, there are sushi-to-go stops.
and please. starbucks only once a week, if you could. too much caffeine
is bad too, you know? you ought not to look like my cat. ~> =^oo^=

by the way, if you pay for your own bills, you should have a "D" envelope,
where you should put the money you need to pay for all of them and leave
it under your clothes or inside a kitchen drawer to forget about it and
never touch it. that way, you won't cry to death when the bills come. ^^

i guess that's all i can offer for now. living in this country sure helps when it comes to teaching you saving tips. ^^

well..i love shopping so much..but i never go home with my wallet empty..you just need to have your priorities..and go to places with sale and with low prices but quality porducts..

though you wont really avoid the situation that you will spot an item whatever.. that ish expensive or you might not have the enough money at that moment...so all you have to do is to go home and think of some ways ("good ways") to have the money to buy it..(am i making sense?) like saving or selling things that you dont need anymore..or having a simple business with of course reasonable service fee ,etc.and then go back to buy that item..

or just forget about it..or...look for an alternative..i mean like an item smilar to it but with affordable price but with good quality..that ish very possible..and of course, you dont have to waste your money with something so expensive when you have other option, right? just like what they said.."riches (things)come and go..they fade and you cant bring them in your life after death"

i agree with michiyo..living here in philippines will really give you the attitude to be a wise shopaholic...and to be thrifty somehow..though there are lots of options where you can save money..you just need to be wise enough to do it..chu~ XD.. chu~...

ja ne...^^

*hope this will help you*
