I've watched it. And i htink this is quite an interesting movie. Makes you learn to appreciate the time you have passed and experienced. That mistakes in your past life isn't something you can simply fix, but that you should work hard to make a better future instead by learning from your past mistakes. This is something we commonly know in our lifes, but the movie makes an interesting presentation of it through the story of this 3 buddies... It's not the best movie ever, but it's worth watching, that's for sure. I personally like the artwork style as well :)

wow, i didnt know tokikake won an award! anyway, it's a masterpiece☆ 10/10. Animated by madhouse so the animation alone is worth your time. Slow paced though, not a problem for me but some may find it boring.

I agree with Sai completely! Toki wo kakeru shouji is definitely a movie to make you think and reflect about your own decisions in life. It personally made me think more about what I've been doing and what I plan on doing... hmm maybe not a good movie for people who only want a happy ending ;3

Successes:
-BGM was right on, a combination of classical piano music and orchestral original compositions, perfect ♥
-animation was generally smooth and simple
-voice actors suited roles wonderfully

Drawbacks:
-CGI was weird at times... especially during time leap (maybe it's an artistic statement?)
-movie seemed short, the storyline could be explained farther and expanded

does anyone know what's the meaning behind the painting. It seems the painting play an important role for chiaki

I think that Chiaki heard about the painthing in his time (the future) and people probbably wanted to see it and so did he, who knows maybe he's actually a artistic type...
And i agree that it defenatly makes you apreciate time and your life and how you want to spend it and with whoom^^

I remember reading up on the movie after watching it and there was an earlier light novel titled "The girl who conquered time". In that story, the main character is actually the aunt, who later worked at the museum to restore the painting. Maybe there's something there in that earlier story to explain Chiaki's interest in it (other than the painting having been lost in the future.)

BEWARE THE RED-EYED ONES...

@sirkillsalot
Oh, so the movie's a sequel to the novel then? Hmm so the aunt was the main character... No wonder she seems to be familiar with time leaping

@sirkillasalo/mingyin,razoken,sai: the girl who leapt through time(anime movie) is adapted from toki wo kakeru shoujo a.k.a the girl who conquered time novel. there was a film made with the title the girl who conquered time in 1983, anyway the story is basically the same, if you want to know more about the story just read the novel =)

edit: the name the girl who conquered time and the girl who leapt through time is just the translated name for the same novel toki wo kakeru shoujo

I liked the movie, but man, if it were me, I would have leapt back after I found out the winning lotto's number and made myself rich.

lol the thing we can learn in this movie is even if you have the ability to do that, the best decision you can have is to not use it. Because when you happy someone else get hurt.
