Got an interesting question...
|
This isn't a recent thing that's on my mind but Dennou Coil reminded me of what and where that little piece of song comes from when crossing a street. I remember hearing it 8-9 years ago when I first watched Love Hina, but in a lot of Anime in progressing years I've heard it countless times when the light turns green and people cross a street. And please, if you really know what I'm talking about and the answer only. |

You mean this song? I recorded this sound clip crossing a busy intersection in Hirakata, Osaka, Japan. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Yeah that one. Is there any significance with that song like some sort of fore-shadowing or omen in Anime? Hmm... or maybe it's just a common song played when crossing streets? =\ |

From what I understood, talking to my host family, the tune is ancient Japanese. Culturally, old things like that are creepy. Not to mention the tune's haunting use of the minor scale. It is not common, I have only heard it a few places in Osaka and Kyoto. As I recall, in Tokyo, they have other, more up-beat tunes for their crosswalks! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Very interesting information you have there. It's just weird to always hear that same song again and again after all these years. So this is the song that is embedded in the crosswalk signs huh? No wonder you hear the same tune in many Anime over all these years. |
