Family & Anime
|
It's quite natural to have friends with shared obsessions and interests, but the same sometimes can't be said about our families. In my case though there has been only like 2 anime series that I've seen without my brother. Although he displays a certain dislike towards anime (especially the ones I like ^^') I know he's an anime fan too. My father is an anime dweeb in the inside. He likes to pretend that he doesn't like "those strange cartoons", but everytime I rent an interesting anime he'll get hooked. He even praised anime when my aunt came by saying how anime was different from normal cartoons, how that they portrayed a range of emotions and were quite philisophical (I don't think she was convinced, we were watching Ramen Fighter Miki at that same moment :p). My mom is the only one that doesn't show any interest in anime, except for the movies...especially Studio Ghibli ones. So what about your family? Do they also like anime? And list some of the anime they like or atleast the ones you think they like cuz they'll watch it with devotion :p. Brother- FLCL, Azumanga Daioh, Welcome to the NHK, Magical Arcade Abenobashi <---this one would top his list, I think. Papa Bear- Claymore (he LOVED this one, he watched the ending like 3 times and is eagerly waiting for a continuation), Akira, and RahXephon. Mama Bear- Kiki's Delivery Service
It's like this and like that and uh.

I'm not sure if my family is "into" anime. Well, I can say they are NOT anime fans, but sometimes when I watch dubs on TV that have really good graphix, they say it's really good, or "looks really good. For instance, when I was watching Air TV (DUBBED), they saw how amazing the graphics were and they said it looked really good. They also heard the intro song from Lia, and said she was an amazing singer, which she is. I think it was my mom who said this and I think she could get into Japanese singers if she knew the language. Back a few short years ago or so, they used to say stuff like "stop watching cartoons." When they realized it was "anime", and nothing relating to the American animation shown on TV, they knew it was different. Not sure what happened, but eventually they stopped bugging me about it. Maybe cause it was made in Japan or something; anime that is. :3 So sometimes when I'm watching the DUBS on TV, if they're walking by they'll take a break real quick and take a look at it. Wouldn't say they became anime fans, cause they're not, I know that, but they probably think it's pretty interesting. The other day during my Christmas break, I was watching a bit of FFVII:AC, and they thought the characters in the movie were real. ------- |

Are you nuts? My family and anime live on opposite ends of the world. My parents get seriously mad when I watch anime. The only way I can justify DLing/watching anime is by saying it's helping with my studies (I'm studying Japanese in college)! But for some strange reason, my mom really likes to watch Jigoku Shoujo Futakomori. Dunno why... |

My mom hated me watching anime, she says it's too noisy. Muha, DBZ at high volume is good for the soul! And Fist Of The North Star, that completely rocks at high decibels! |
