狼ã¨é¦™è¾›æ–™ - Spice and Wolf

I've been looking forward to this one since it was announced. I was a little worried that this wouldn't translate into anime that well since there's a lot of dialogue and it's essentially a fantasy world with no magic or swords or anything like that (basically LotR w/o 99% of the fantasy aspect and you have your world for this to an extent). OP - 「旅ã®é€”ä¸ã€(tabi no tochuu) - In the Middle of the Journey by Natsumi Kiyoura. Elegant....elegant elegant elegant. After going through the first ep and seeing a little of one of the main character's personalities, I think this op fits perfectly. Alongside H2O's OP, another very strong one worth snagging, atleast for me. I guess this would be classified as a ballad. Kiyoura has a very gorgeous voice, in particular for someone with very little prior songs. I wonder if this one will break into the Oricon top 20 ranking...I hope it does. ED - 「リンゴ日和ã€(ringo hiyori) - Fine Weather for an Apple(?) by Rocky Chack. ...I don't know if it's "cute" to sing an entire song in...English with a heavy Japanese accent...but man...a really great anime with a really great op and characters and this song just ruins it...kinda poppy but :/ On the flipside, the animation for the ED is very "cute" and makes up for the crummy ED song quite a bit. Summary of the story: Lawrence (a travelling salesman) comes across Horo (Hollow?) who had been worshipped by the townsfolk as a deity who brought fertility to the land for ages. However, to maintain nature's balance, there were seasons where she wouldn't provide them with a bountiful harvest so as to not strain the land, but in recent years, there had been growing resentment towards her. She no longer feels the need to keep a promise made with a youngster many ages ago to provide for bountiful harvest because the people had basically become independent of her. From here, the 2 start off on a journey north, to where Horo was born. The character of Horo is CV'd by Ami Koshimizu and speaks in an older tongue/dialect of Japanese and she does a very amazing job with her role. Huge gap between her flirtatious/playful side and her sensitive side and both are very believable. Very good combination with Lawrence who seems to not be able to say no to her for lack of a better description. Of the following new anime this season so far that I've seen: Rozario + Vampire Minamike Okawari Shigofumi True Tears H2O Persona ARIA the Origination Sisters of Wellber 2 Kimiaru Spice and Wolf I think Spice and Wolf will be one of the best ones of the bunch in terms of story/character development/overall balance. Looking forward to next Tuesday :) |

just dl'ed the anime today, haven't watched it yet. I've read the first 4 manga chapters of Wolf and Spice though. I love Horo. She's so fun. edit: watched it today. I'm a bit disappointed in the voices. I was hearing a sassier Horo and a older/deeper voiced Lawrence. Chloe isn't in the manga (at least not in the 4 chapters that have been scanlated). But as both the manga and the anime are based on light novels, some differences are to be expected. |

Majide!? No one else posting here? or there's a thread about this that I can't find? Anyway, Spice and Wolf I and II is one of the greatest series ever, very unique and heartwarming. I'm hoping for season III since II was a cliffhanger in my opinion. But atleast we got to see something awesome that everyone been waiting for in last episode of season II. ♥ Horo's mine btw. <.< |
