OK, so what's the word ã•ã‚ used for in Japanese? I've got it in my text, but the teacher didn't explain it. I'm clueless about it; plz help! |

ã•ã‚ - means like "it's time; come now" example: ã•ã‚ã€è¡Œã“ã†ã‹ï¼Ÿã€€ well, shall we go? ã•ã‚ã€ã“ã‚Œã§çµ‚ã‚ã‚Šã¾ã—ょã†ã€‚ well, we shall stop here. ã•ã‚ã€é£Ÿã¹ã‚ˆã†ã‹ï¼Ÿ now, shall we eat?

That's fine; but is there a difference between ã•ã‚ and just plain ã•. I'll illustrate with an example. Here's two lines from a song by Mika Nakashima: ãŠã€€ã“ã®ã€€æ·‹ã—ã„ ã•ã€€ã« ã„ã¤ã‹ã€€çµ‚ã‚ã‚Šã¯ã€€ã‚ã‚‹ã®ï¼Ÿ What's the 'sa' in the first line mean here? |
Re: ã•ã‚

the "ã•ã‚" is quite onomatopoeia-ish too in my opinion, it's a sensing type of stuff, sometimes even too detailed that most people would have looked over... "ãŠã€€ã“ã®ã€€æ·‹ã—ã„ ã•ã€€ã« ã„ã¤ã‹ã€€çµ‚ã‚ã‚Šã¯ã€€ã‚ã‚‹ã®ï¼Ÿ" should have been Oh ã“ã®æ·‹ã—ã•ã«ã„ã¤ã‹çµ‚ã‚ã‚Šã¯ã‚ã‚‹ã®ï¼Ÿ that â€ã•â€ is a part of the noun -> æ·‹ã—ã•(sabishisa) which means "loneliness" for that "ã•" you are talking about is like an assertion, possibly confidence too; is mostly used at the end of the sentence mamoru's example: ãã†ã˜ã‚ƒãªãã¦ã•ãƒ¼ã€‚ (it's not like that) å›ã¯ã•ãƒ¼ã€æ•°å¦ã®å…ˆç”Ÿã®ã“ã¨ã‚’ã©ã†æ€ã„ã¾ã™ã‹ï¼Ÿ(what is your opinion on the math teacher?) 明日ã€ãƒ•ãƒ©ãƒ³ã‚¹ã«å¸°ã‚‹ã¤ã‚‚ã‚Šã•ã€‚(I'm planning to return to France tomorrow)

「ã•ã‚ーã€for me would be a little lacking :P i would be waiting for that person to answer more than that... like 「ã•ã‚ーã€ä¿ºã‚‚分ã‹ã‚‰ãªã„よã。〠「ã‘ã‚“ã˜å›ã€åƒ•ã®ã‚±ãƒ¼ã‚¿ã‚¤ã—ã¦ã‚‹ã€---> i understand as "kenji kun, my mobile is doing" i assume it's 「ã‘ã‚“ã˜å›ã€åƒ•ã®ã‘ã„ãŸã„を知ã£ã¦ã‚‹ï¼Ÿã€ ---> "do you know my mobile?" should have been 「ã‘ã‚“ã˜å›ã€åƒ•ã®ã‘ã„ãŸã„ã¯ã©ã“ã«ã‚ã‚‹ã‹ã‚’知ã£ã¦ã‚‹ã®ï¼Ÿã€
