um... i have a question , how do you capture screen .MKV file??? i use zoom and doing the print screen won't do the trick, the zoom player have it's own capture but it only work for Xdiv file, so is there other method to capture a screenshot on .MKV (won't work mean that the pic taken is plain black) |

well, I use media player classic, but the save image option in there doesn't work for me *shrugs* try VLC media player, it's another open-source free player and it can also play lots of file types. Under video, click on snapshot. Oh, first go to options to set where you want the snapshot to be saved. For watching vids, though I still prefer mpc over vlc, vlc has pretty sucky dragging issues. |

you cant print screen from video like h 264 or .mkv. but for me, i use virtualdub. virtualdub is a video editing & video capturing program, i ussually use this to capture some image sequences from some of my xvid & h264 anime. you can dwnld it from www.virtualdub.org. after install it, you must install Avisynth as plug in for .mkv, .mp4, etc. i'm forgot where i dwnld it. after install it. you can opened video file by: open notepad, then add : DirectShowSource("the file address") then Save file /all file types/save file as: video.avs then open virtualdub and drag that video.avs to virtualdub to run the script. o forgot you must have the codec. too difficult maybe. but this program can be used for makin subs from anime too visit aolas.soup.io for your usual dose of seiyuu pics |

@Aolas-san Yeah, you can't print screen from h264 or .mkv vids, but somehow the in-built "save image.." and "snapshot" options in mpc and vlc respectively seems to work, even for those vid types. But like I mentioned, the "save image.." option in mpc doesn't work for me when I try to grab screenshots from .mkv files, though I've read that it works. VirtualDub is a good free program, I'm using it for a bit of video editing on the side in my work as well. However, XD I refrained from suggesting it bcos installing it and getting it to work just to get a screenshot is a bit overkill in this case XD @Key Okay~! I've tested this with .mkv files. I'm so used to using vlc to grab .mkv screenshots that I forgot that WMP can do it too. Just pause at the scene you need, and press control+i. Viola~! A save dialog will pop up. If I'm not mistaken, the pic resolution will be the same as your video size. The downside here is, your WMP has to be able to play .mkv files. I forgot how I got the codec for it in the first place, I've abandoned WMP for so long >_<; I'm sure the codec can be gotten easily, I dun remember having trouble locating it XD |
