I hope this isn't being discussed already. What are your thoughts on the current situation with Yahoo and Microsoft? For those who don't know, Microsoft is attempting to take over Yahoo in a hope to better stand up to Google, although Yahoo is resisting. Microsoft seems poised to start a proxy fight in the next two weeks or so to do a hostile takeover and Yahoo seems to be looking for other possible exit plans to ensure it's not taken by Microsoft (or at least to try and get Microsoft to raise it's offer above $31 a share). What are your opinions or thoughts on this? Do you think Microsoft will just get it's way like usual and take over Yahoo? Or will Yahoo make a dive for the back door to try and escape Microsoft? A Yahoo Google deal seems unlikely, due to the antitrust issues that would come up from a merger, but there's a Yahoo-AOL possibility, Yahoo using Google ads in it's search (it's testing it now in the US for two weeks) and Time Warner deal (although I think that's the same as the AOL deal). Microsoft also looks like it's at least thinking about breaking a deal with NewsCorp for a joint take over bid, that and the 3 week deadline they imposed before a proxy fight. |

I don't know how it's gonna turn out, but it'd be a lot safer if Yahoo were to kept out of Microsoft's hands. Really. |
