Just like Josh said, you can go the website he posted, also check out www.good-tutorials.com. Look around for some tutorials you're interested in and try them out. After some practice, try to come up with your own ideas. Soon it'll come easily. If you like to draw, then try a Wacom tablet. Much easier than a mouse. |

Umm... Does anyone know how to make an image transparency in Photoshop 7.0 that you can use for backgrounds and graphics and stuff? The file's a JPEG file, but I don't know if that makes a difference. Help me out, please! |

I think that only .gif files can have transparency, but I'm no expert. In a program I use called CIMP, you can have transparency but it'll just come out as white unless the file is a .gif. psoplayer'd know, I'll ask him if I run by him ^_^ Edit: No idea how I got CIMP, but it's GIMP ^_^; |

While I don't know anything about Photoshop, I do know some about image editing. Common formats that support transparancy are gif and png. I use GIMP (I think that's what sachiel meant to type) for all my editing needs. It's a free download and is comparable to photoshop in power. You may find youself a little lost on your first time using it, especially if you're used to photoshop, but it's just as good. (For anything I've ever wanted to do, that is.) |

Ah. I see. Thanks for your guys' help. But now I have another question. Is there a way I can change the file format from JPEG to GIF? |

just open up the image. click on file, on the drop down menu choose save as, and under the file name you'll see format and from there just pick gif and save. |

Need help again. I have a .gif file, and I want to make a transparency out of it [translation: I want the girl in the picture, but I want to get rid of the white background she's on]. How do I do that in Photoshop 7.0? Confused, --Kaoru-chan |

You can do it in 2 ways. However, if the *.gif file is layered (which I doubt it is), the white background can be easily removed. Otherwise, you have to do it in two ways. 1> painstaking method - use the Lasso tool to get the girl out 2> there is no method 2. but you could use the magic Eraser tool. But it could take away part of the girl's image. But, if it's just a pure white background, then leave it be. [edit] My banner sig was done in both photoshop 7.0 and image ready 7.0 *blip* *blip* |
