Retroactive continuity
|
Retroactive continuity (or informally retcon) is the deliberate changing of previously established facts in a work of serial fiction. The change itself is informally referred to as a "retcon", and the act of writing and publishing a retcon is called "retconning". Indeed... This seems to be sickening (or rather "confusing")... It has been commonplace now... You see it in almost any media... Does it not annoy you when you are such a Die-hard fan of a series... Then have its canon altered? Granted of course... They made it... But at what cost? Here are a few Examples of retcons Kneel Before the Great and Benevolent Cow! |

it is very annoying and confusing indeed...this is more commonplace in comics (marvel and DC) though i never really been a die-hard fan of..anything... i just hate these alterations and reinterpretations... it just messes things up for me |

this is somewhat related.. but does anyone else agree with me that they used this concept in the new Hulk movie? this is only from the perspective of the two movies, I've not followed the comics, so I'm not so sure what the canon is for Hulk's appearance. |

they did it just for the new light they want to gave away to fans........ which i really hate.. soap opera are the worst of this... not comic and stuff... soap opera had to keep airing thus giving of retcon +loop in the story.. which i may say no more story or creative thinking in their respective story founder...... |

Indeed... They'll be leading you down the plot and then have it changed in the middle... It's like having your very own Time machine or something... There are "some" which could pass off... but when they retcon and then it leaves a gaping hole in the plot... Thats a different story... The other problem is that when they retcon a plot... The original is often forgotten or dissolved... leaving it... well... pointless... and turning the new canon "real" resulting in the confusion... Those who are usually affected are the people who are new to the story... Taking up the newer canon... This is also one of the reasons I quit collecting Spider-man comics...
