Anyone been to a supercollider?

| One of my friends told me about the one in San Francisco. I know another one exists in Japan somewhere (probably Tokyo), but I dunno where else they are. I have always wanted to visit one of these awesome machines; is there anyone here that has? If so, what is it like? |

There is one in San Franciso I think its part of Cal Tech?.. There is Fermilab near Chicago, I know that one is open to tours, its part of my Summer road trip, I believe its still the largest collider. There are also a good deal of colliders in Europe.... http://www-elsa.physik.uni-bonn.de/accelerator_list.html at the bottom of that page it has the colliders... Im such a nerd for having that bookmarked...sigh.

Lol. Coolness. Hope you go to Chicago too. Just don't take one of the street bus tours... you'll be hard pressed to find a more crowded, smelly, or longer bus tour. *gags* Your right though, right now Fermilab is the largest, as far as I could tell. Cept they are building one in Geneva, Switzerland that is bigger. Won't be working for another 7 or so years, though. |

I live relatively close to the fermilab collider. Ive been there but not recently. I remember it was huge. Also there were buffalos.  |

| Fermilab rawks. I haven't exactly been to the particle accelerator (I doubt that's open to the public), but I went there for a few lectures on Dark Matter and Neutrinos. It was pretty amazing stuff. |
