I played Xenosaga Saga (I, II, & III). Xenosaga III is the best among I & II because they put all their efforts in making the game. They include background story about Xenosaga I & II so you can catch up to the story. They also include databases of characters, events and dictionary of all their terms starting from their first game. This game rocks!! You don't even need to play the first and second game just to know its story. My favorite scene there is... all of them^^. Their scenes really hits the story. The action, the drama, its all good. I also found out that Xenosaga was connected in PlayStation I's Xenogears after all.

If you plan to really understand the story of Xenosaga you will need to play all 3 games & in the end there is still ALOT of stuff to grasp your brain around it. Officially it was planned to be a 7 part game series by the creators but due to some poor decisions & ok sales that idea was scrapped. So only 3 were made. Xenogears from the PS1 was the 6th game of the series. This being my alltime fave game i was saddened that there wouldn't be a remake/retelling of it. The plan was to make the first 3 games be about KOS-MOS/Shion, the next 3 were to be about CHAOS, while the last was the be all end all of everything. Anyways Xeno3 was the best of the three, it took me sometime to get used to the change in direction that first began with Xeno2. THe change in music composer (Yasanori Mitsuda to Yuki Kajiura), the change in gameplay, the changes in the story (the original story writer quit the series). After the disappointment of Xeno2 the creators basically crammed everything they can think of into 3 (the game database/encyclopedia for example) & for the mostpart it was a far far improvement. There are quite abit of nostalgic moments that harken back to Xenogears. It is a tad linear with a few sidequests to do. Some loading times are abit long but nothing to fret about. Like you said there is alot of CGI in the game to drool over & the new character designs are an improvement over the look of Xeno2. A worthwhile game to play & i being a HUGE fan of Xenogears i thoroughly enjoyed it. Still i would've love the idea that the planned 7 games were a reality but still i'm content with what they gave. |
