------
[TITLE] X Edge / Cross Edge
------
[GAME INFO] For those who are addicted with JRPG's, this game will make your day! 5 of the
most biggest gaming companies in Japan collaborate to make this game including
CAPCOM, BANDAI NAMCO, NIPPON ICHI SOFTWARE, GUST and IDEA FACTORY. This game
is a turn battle system, allowing you to attack opponents with a certain amount
of AP [ATTACK POINTS / POWER] The best feature of this game is that you can
make a very good combo's [CHAINS] with different characters. You can use
4 characters in battle and provide good attacks and EX Skill to kill your enemies.
The story flows with this 2 main characters named Kannagi Yuuto [GUN TYPE] and
Aiba Mikoto [SPEAR TYPE] who are transported in a fantasy world. Their mission
is to collect all the souls who are lost within the fantasy world and return
it to their original world. Well thats the only thing I know for the moment
since im still halfway of the story.
------
[GAME FEATURES] the good feature of this game is that you can use characters from different games like:
[CONFIRMED CHARACTERS]

Capcom
Darkstalkers/Vampire Hunters: Morrigan, Felicia, Dmitri

Bandai Namco
Ar Tonelico: Orica, Misha, Shuleria (sp? on all three)

Nippon Ichi
Disgaea: Etna, Prinny

Idea Factory
Spectral Souls: Zerosu, Myuu

Gust
Mana Khemia 2: Liliane, Rozeluxe
Atelier Marie: Marie

------
[COMMENT] this is my first time to play a turn battle RPG and luckily that this one did not dismay me.
At first glance, I thought that, who would buy this low quality game =.= but
to my amazement when I saw some CM, this one caught my attention. The battle
system intrigues me so much especially after seeing the combos! it rocks!
currently im half-way story having lvl 20+ character with 107 max chains [TOO LOW] yah coz my friend manages to make a 250 hit combo...
well anyways for those who are interested, the demo version is already out now.
But sadly this one doesnt provide any translation so you just have to stick
with the Kanji or Katakana. Im going to provide some info on what I know.
Ok then end here! going to update it later =]

[SCORE] 4/5

Sources that i've read has confirmed that Nippon Icchi has decided to port the game over to North American audiences. Although judging by the article it looks like they are just the publishing it & that another company is translating the game. Perhaps Atlus since they are like the new 'Working Designs' porting over obscure RPGs.

Also mentioned is that Sakura Wars (Taisen) will FINALLY make it's North American debut. Again NIS is publishing the release of Sakura Wars V with another company doing the translation work.

Here is the article about it: X-Edge & Sakura Wars North American bound?

I hope they do, I really want to play X-Edge.

I'm not as pumped about Sakura Wars however, I typically hate any American based settings or things of that nature, although the characters and such look interesting. I believe one of them is like that.

Also, about X-Edge, I'm a little confused as to how the battles worked. All I could really see in that video above was your characters wailing on that monster one after another. I'm all for beating the crap out of monsters, but what's the battle flow work like? Turn based? Timing?

Edit: Why didn't I think of this before? I can get the Demo for this game. *smacks forehead* I completely forgot.

Edit 2: I am now currently lost in the Japanese PS store. Still have not found demo. Although I did find PSP Ikkitousen wallpaper as well as PSP demo's of games I cannot comprehend. God, Japan is awesome.

[ J o n a t h o n ]
- first its a turn battle but compared to other, this one have their own
AP < attack points which you can consume to attack the enemy until it goes
0 or till you cant attack because of low AP. As you can in see the vid
provided by darky, you can see the time, the time provides you to make
chains. Its really simple but there are several chains that have special
patters so you must atleast memorize the pattern to complete a good combo

[ d a r k y ]
- that vid is in the first part where you will fight Etna and Prinny.
You cannot get too much combo from there but if he just choosed Rozen
and Morrigan, he can used the Chain combo.

as you level up, you will learn new techniques which is good for combos

----------------------------------------------------------------------

lol its been a while since I posted here. Currently I stop playing this
one but my current character is almost level 40

Rozen
Morrigan
Etna
Zerosu

Is the demo for this still available? Or was it a limited time thing like Gran Turismo 5 Prologue? I can't find it anywhere on the Japanese PS store.

The North American release is scheduled for March 2009.

Even if the gameplay looks & maybe plays not as you expected...it'll be interesting at least to try something different from time to time.

It'll be on my 'wanted' list for sure.

Damn, I hate limited time only demo's. Same thing happened with GT5 Prologue.

@Izumo-san- Well I'm always up for crazy Japanese RPG's that have an anime look to them, regardless of how they play (well, other than playing badly of course). March doesn't sound too bad, nothing else on my list that's coming out in that time.

It's set to come out March of this year, just another month or so away. I pre-ordered it just yesterday. I'm really interested in it even though I haven't had a chance to really play it. I just like the collaborative effort from all the different games.

I'm still waiting for my copy. It was supposed to hit NA on March 20th, but they pushed the release date back to May 21st because they are adding trophy support to the game. I kind of wish that they would just release the game and patch trophies later on or something. I hate how focused people are getting on trophies, so much that game developers start pushing back release dates just to cater to those people. I honestly wouldn't have a better experience with a game just because they add trophy support to it, it's meaningless. It is kind of fun to have as sort of a 'replay value', but I don't care if it isn't there.

That said, I'm still excited for this game and can't wait to play it. Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier is out at the end of the month as well, so I have that in order to get used to the timing based chain attacks and AP gauge systems.

Advice: Don't attempt truthend if you are reloading a saved game. It is because you would be very frustrated when you find out that you are doing everything in vain because truthend isn't happening on a second play through.

If there is any question, feel free to ask.
