download problem

hi Recently i can't download any songs at all. I tried it a few days ago and today. Basically all download songs will freeze after 1 to 5 seconds of download. I saw another thread that has same problem and gendou mentions download accelerator. As far as i know, I don't have download accelerator installed or running. I went to program "add/remove" list just then and didn't see any download accelerator installed. I've tried both firefox and IE and both will freeze on download. Downloads from other sites (ie: rs, mediafire, etc..) will work so....not sure wats happening? |

It could be that the biola.edu network is blocking your ability to download MP3 files by dropping the TCP connection. Are you able to download MP3 files from other websites?

sorry, was very busy the last few weeks so didn't reply. Yes, like i mentioned before, i CAN download files with mp3 extensions from other sites. I tried downloading at gendou today and sometimes last week, still the same problem. The download would be fast for about 5 to 9 seconds....then the download usually goes somewhere under 30% and then just hangs. . i told my friend this problem, he thinks Biola seems to only have 1 big IP address, and some other nut on campus maybe downloading crazy on this site....so hence i can't download since we're essentially using the same IP address. What do u think gendou? Is there anyway u can verify this or solve the problem? (I had no problem downloadin stuff here the last 3 years living on campus...? i would expect, if the campus is preventing the download, it would block this entire site?) |

I'll try my best to help solve the problem. Are you able to download this file? It's possible that your campus network is blocking packets belonging to mp3 files, but allowing other traffic.

gendou, i was not able to download the file you provided. I tried downloading it 3 times. The 1st time it'll hang up on 13%, 2nd time....the download almost begins at 16% and hangs up (its acting like a resume download, which i never experience in firefox, when i cancel a download and redownload. Re-download of the file will always start at 0%. But sometimes i download from ur site the speed can be very fast for the 1st 5 seconds and hangs up..?). 3rd time, it seems to begin at 25%. From that point i tried doing "pause and resume" from the firefox download box menu....it will do the same thing, download for 2 or 3 seconds then freeze. I tried doing that a few times and the download session was force-ended at around 70~80%. . as for campus network blocking packets belonging to mp3 files....well, like i said in my last 2 posts, i've tried downloading mp3 from other sites and it works fine. In fact, i tried Baidu this morning to test it out, and it works. It would be strange that its blocking mp3 file extensions or packets only from your site and not other sites? any other ideas what it might be? o_o"? |

| I am having the same problem! Like Giwye says I can download MP3s from toher sites but for some reason not from this one which sucks since this site has the best selection by far of any other site I have been too. Idk if it is my crummy campus internet or not. I will try again on my computer at home. I hope its just the crummy campus internet, at least theres nothing wrong with the site and I can continue with my downloading later on. |

Have you guys make sure you're not using download accelerator? If you do, make sure to turn it off. |

| Yeah i checked if I have any Download accelerators, which I dont. But I could download that file that Gendou provided Giwye, so im kinda at a loss with what might be wrong. :( |

| When was the last time you downloaded a song from Gendou with no problems? Try doing a System Restore prior to that date. |

| I had a similar problem a few days ago. the download stops after a few seconds and sometimes the downloads end with an incomplete song. It happened quite occasionally but its okay now though. |

Hurm.. i think it's your campus connection.. maybe it's blocking all the mp3 extenion from this site and not the others.. *that's what i think.. this saturday which is 27 of jun i'll be going to university and stay on the campus.. i'll try my campus connection and inform here immediately once i've use the campus connection.. *i hope it doesn't go badly.. >.< |

| You need to give a bit more detail other then your download stops right when you start it. What browser are you trying it from, what kind of connection, are you using download managers, what is your favorite color, and which file specifically? |

same problem here (or not?) ugh..could this be my own fault? (so sorry..) i can't download since i download a song but forget about turning off my idm (some kind of download accelerator), canceled the download, and start downloading without that download accelerator, let's say i able to download a song.. but then i can't download any song with this warning: "C:\Documents and Settings\XxX\Desktop\"song title here" could not be saved, because the source file could not be read. Try again later, or contact the server administrator." arghh..how can i live without gendou..? |

@ dark: Have you tried downloading using different browsers? What browser are you using? Are you really really sure your accelerator is turned off? lol If you're using Internet Explorer, I suggest you change browsers. Sometimes IE fails with downloading.  |

@shin i use Mozzila fire fox.. the accelerator wont be any problem now since i have it uninstalled..that accelerator give me nothing but this problem.. oh..but I could download that file that Gendou-sama provided for Giwye.. |

dark: Have you try clearing firefox cache and reboot your comp? And make sure you save the song to a specific location and know where it is. Let the download finish too so it won't be corrupted. |

@miko yeah..i've reboot my comp soo many times of course.. and of course i know where the dowloaded song goes to, it's in the desktop.. the strange thing is that i able to download that file above that Gendou-sama provided Giwye.. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Problem Solved dunno why..it's just i able to download now..khu3.. is that kind of temporary ban? @All thanks for the help! |
