Super Collider: Key for studying black holes.

The "Super Collider", that will be completed by 2010, will prove or disapprove Hawking's theory about Black Holes. The "Hawking Radiation", indicates that mini black holes exists for a matter of time, and because of this radiation according to his theory, collapse in a matter of minutes or maybe seconds. This project also will tell us, a bit of information about the origin of the universe, and what they call the "Singularity". Tell me your thoughts about it.  |

I think by "Super Collider" you are referring to the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. The LHC was not designed as an experiment to test Hawking Radiation. From what I've read [source], there is no reason to believe the LHC will produce any micro black holes. Additionally, I've heard it claimed that any observations consistent with Hawking Radiation from a micro black hole could also be consistent with the ordinary particle collision which resulted in the micro black hole.

But there are some articles of some physicists that LHC will produce at least micro black holes for a minimal time. It's been written over Alex Filipenko's articles, as well as Neil deGrasse Tyson. If my memory serves me correct, the Large Hardon Collider are going to be used to collide 2 sub-atomic particles 98% at the speed of light. |

1. Any micro black holes produced at the LHC cannot, I repeat CANNOT accrete mass. They would evaporate in an infinitesimal fraction of a second. 2. No collisions in the LHC at full power will exceed in energy collisions that take place in the ionosphere hundreds of times a second. 3. People who argue "we don't know for sure what will happen, anything could happen" are retarded. We don't know for sure that God won't get pissed and destroy the Earth if we STOP progress at the LHC. Maybe he would punish us for our cowardice in the face of discovery. I find this more likely than death by black hole. (Although that's a good book to read!)
