T.M.Revolution [VS] Abingdon Boys School
Link | by on 2009-09-19 10:10:49
I've just recently noticed that T.M.Revolution and ABingdon Boys School have the same vocalist(yea i know i fail). They're music is different ive noticed with ABS having more of an Americanized, Rock sound, where as TMR had all japanese lyrics and a unique sound. Don't get me wrong, ABS has a unique sound of their own, it's just that TMR's was more prominent.

What's your opinion on these two bands? Which one do you prefer?

Well... The lead singer of Abingdon Boys School is T.M. Revolution....

Sometime singers want a different sound so they might need to create a new band in order to capture the sound. I'm a fan of both ^.^

My personal opinion on this leans more towards ABS in general, since I'm the type of guy who likes rock music, and metal, which the instrumentals from ABS provides. I think the way the incoorporate the english lyrics is meant to make it a little nostalgiac, and try something new, but the singer's voice shined more when was singing in Japanese in TMR. There's just something about ABingdon Boys School that catches my attention than TMR. If I had an ipod only with TMR and ABS songs, I would probably only listen to the ABS and skip the TMR. To me, the original is not always better. This is just my opinion though.

I will always hold TMR dear because he was the first jpop artist i heard/bought music from. And when i got his Seventh heaven and Vertical Infinity, the rock songs on there are amazing. When i heard he was the lead for ABS, i wasnt surprized. I like him better with ABS...and i cant help but headbang to Howling when i watch Darker than Black.

I gotta go with TM while in ABS. As a group, while not yet reaching the popularity
of TM Revolution, I feel ABS has a better feel to the music and can make each
song sound unique and special, despite the band style staying mostly the same.

While TM solo had more memorable songs and is known to a wider audience ( from
what I can tell ), I believe ABS will eventually overshadow his solo career and
could really propell the whole group into stardom on a worldwide level.

May seem abit strange when I say that, but I just think the potential for ABS
is higher then ALOT of other bands, groups, artists, etc. Like how SID and Aqua
Timez exploded onto the scene and rose in popularity, I think ABS is doing the
same and will continue to get even better.

It's no accident that ABS has produced some of my favorite songs; like `Lost Reason`,
and `Kimi no Uta` – and don't forget `Nephilim`, `HOWLING`, `STRENGTH`, and `JAP`.

All of these and more are elite songs -- and they make ABS have more potential
as a group then TM did solo. Enjoy the ride, because I expect ABS to only gain more popularity ~

@Shuy: The only reason TMR is more popular than ABS is because theyve been around much longer than ABS. Heck, they did the first season of Gundam Seed, and also Rurouni Kenshin. Abingdon Boys School showed up on the scene in about 2006 with their single, Innocent Sorrow. After that they released some singles and a self-titles Album, "Abingdon Boys School," or "Nephilim," to others. The album consisted of LOST REASON, Nephilim, As One, Athena, DOWN TO YOU, Dress, Via Dolorosa, and DESIRE. All great songs who arent widely kown yet, and also, all their albumless singles(to my knowledge), BLADE CHORD, Jap, Kimi no Uta, Nervous Breakdown, and Srength(?). I have heard that ABS will be releasing a new album soon as well.

Now for TMR. For me, I heard about/discovered TMR through Gundam, with Invoke. Slowly growing from just that ong, and adding, Heart of Sword, Ignited, Invoke(Phase Shift), Meteor, Resonance, Vestige, Wheel of Fortune, Zips, and Zips(Under Cover Remix) I have not heard any songs from outisde anime other than Wheel of Fortune(thanks to gmeis for the song). I like Abs more because i can relate to their style, and some of the lyrics in their songs, such As DOWN TO YOU, and Nervous Breakdown. Although, I would TMR some more if I heard some of their studio albums. Their are a lot of good songs that dont make it to openings and endings that i need to listen to.

Overall, ABR is better in my opinion.
