Why would FUNimation pick up Shana's second season when Geneon licensed the first season?
Bamboo Blade however is already licensed by FUNimation...

I can no longer rely on studios like Funimation to supply anime, and that is thanks
to having highspeed and being brought into an expanded world of anime then just
what Adult Swim or Scifi show these days. Because of the fact only mainstream
anime like bleach or naruto get their chance at dubbing, countless other anime
just as good or better don't get the dub because it's all about the money ~

Don't get me wrong; of course I know it's about the money. It's a business, afterall.

The best thing to do if you want other anime to get dubbed and picked up, however
[ and something I plan on doing after reading an article on animenewsnetwork ]
is to contact please like Funimation, Geneon, Ocean Studios. Not in a rude or
mean way, but by taking advantage of the section on all their sites called
" CONTACT US! ". After reading abit about all this, I think all fans who want
more anime should contact them in a nice and well-done way, suggesting possible anime.

Something to think about -- cause one person may not make that much a difference,
but thousands of " one persons " can be pretty loud and convincing.

I dont know, sorry I went off there, LOL.

ANN is one of the best sources to find out what anime have been licensed and dubbed by who.

Are you talking about ones that are aired on TV, or dubbed overall here in the states?

Both really, as it's a fact alot of other anime get pushed aside from the entire
dubbing process. Whether it be they aren't even considered to be dubbed here in
the states or are picked up and never actually taken anywhere.

While television may not show much of any portion from the anime actually getting
their dubs, it will normally show the ones that actually get a decent dub. Anime
that normally don't hit TV in some way have bad quality dubbing, seemingly rushed
and not given the same treatment in terms of quality that mainstream will get.

Least, that's how I would view it. Overall, alot of great anime are getting dubbed
her ein the states when they should be; and it comes down to popularity and money.

It is a business, sadly u-u;

honestly i dont watch dubs anymore. i guess theres a lack of voice actors out there because it seems i just see the same ones all the time. and most of them arent good. the closest thing to perfection in dubbing imo were fma and gits. i dont know how current anime is now in dubbing but i doubt it has changed much. if the industry would change 2 major things then it would be better. 1. Match the voice to the character. how the heck doesnt hitsugaya have the deepest voice in bleach? 2. Get the voice actors to convey feelings into their characters. if they do that then we can get things going.

ps - lowering dvds prices couldnt hurt too XD

I disagree Shuy, there are TONS of anime that get dubbed. Every year.
Because it's shown on TV doesn't reveal the case of it even being dubbed at all.
And plus where would anime air on TV? The anime shown on TV are basically pushed in at certain points.
Adult Swim really is the only place to get your main source of anime,
but pretty much the majority of the titles are re-runs (FMA, Death Note, Cowbow Bebop).
I don't even consider AS a "source" to view anime on TV, but it's the only source thus far available.

Also, if you have cable, a certain type of it, there's an all-anime channel that shows dubbed anime,
and from what I've heard in the past it's no surprise of how the dubbing went. Bad.

Have you forgotten the earlier years of our decade where anime was shown throughout networks like Toonami and CN?
And even the earliest form of AS (RAW) had a few popular titles from Japan (Yuu Yuu Hakusho, Detective Conan, etc.).

In fact, anime that aren't even aired on TV are better than the ones aired on TV.
There's also Comcast on Demand which is a pretty good source to find good titles brought over. The dubbing is up to your judgment though.
Regardless of bad dubbed titles, horrible voice actors, there are still descent companies trying to do their best.
I give dubbed titles a chance, and I'm pretty good at what'll be good or not. Believe me.

There are more than "two" things the industry would need to change to get better at dubbing anime my friend.
Matching the characters lip movements and emotion is correct.
Get the voice actors to feel out the character in the anime is correct, too.
But honestly what's the point when you can't even pronounce the most basic names in anime.
I still get irritated and annoyed on how the Americans pronounce "Naruto".
It's not even a difficult name to pronounce, but they try to act like they know Japanese by adding emphasis on the "ru" (r000000000).

I mean how do you even become a voice actor for anime and not know how to do these basic, needed fundamentals.
But just to make sure, the Japanese companies didn't hire or approve of them,
the studios here who think they're "omg, you're really talented..." did. Huge difference.

I mean honestly, now, there's no heart when it comes to dubbing anime.
I will exclude only a few, but overall, the gap is too vast to overcome.

I mean the abridged DBZ series have better voice actors...

And omg, yeah, but DVDs in Japan can cost even MORE, and for the most case they do!

I don't know if I would say Tons. Alot of anime get picked up, but then never
go anywhere. And while I didn't realize that so many were getting dubbed, the
fact still remains that the voice actors are not producing high-quality work,
minus the few who have a passion in learning aobut their character and bringing them life.

As far as television goes, please like Adult Swim dont do much for showing new content.
Ive actually started to look to SciFi, because they are actually trying to expand
and get some anime and anime movies to air rathen then AS running the same ol' same ol'.

And I haven't forgotten the early years of anime being allll over the place. CN,
WB, Fox. Saturdays were filled with anime, and in CN's case every weekday and
eventually saturday too -- but then of course, anime began to vanish all over.

That's a problem I think, the lack of anime getting their air-time on any stations
like the old days; where DBZ, Gundam, Sailor Moon, Kenshin, Yu Yu Hakusho, Card Captor Sakura,
and then favorites like Detective Conan on AS. But these days, there's barely anything
on cable anime-wise and whatever it is, is just the same old stuff.

And as far as companies trying to do their best, I actually fault the voice actors
themselves. If they tried to learn about their character, they could do a great
job at bringing them to life. It's a common thing nowadays when a VA is asked
about their character and something to do with them, and the answer is " IM not sure; I don't know. ".

But anyway, I think the dubbing process and anime in general getting coverage in the
states needs to improve. Aside from these all-anime channels you have to pay for
with having digital cable or satelite, there's not much being done; when there
are plenty of chances to throw some anime in for cable telelvision.

I can just enjoy my subs though; but Im seeing I took this topic totally off-topic, LOL, my bad u-u;

Anime will get dubbed every year, but the release dates are usually a year later or something like that.
The only times I really check out dubbed anime in stores is when I see a title I loved when I saw the JP version.
That's a fact that's going to be engraved on their faces. Dubbed anime in general are horrible.

AS is a different type of network, they air stuff that's like whatever they want really.
It's hard to explain, but it's not like a huge network like CN or Nick.
I can sort of picture the type of people that work there and what they like. It's possible South Park will air but meh, doubt it soon.
Seeing Moribito on there was a surprise though, and it's possible they might be opening up to newer titles.

Of course companies are to be blamed when the VAs they choose are horrible VAs or do horrible work.
One last thing, dubbing period in America is not improving anytime soon, so stick with originals.

heres also an issue that cant be blamed on VAs though. its not as popular here then it is in japan. they cant make it a career unless they are relatively good (from the company's view not ours. thats why you see the same ones over and over again. most VAs also cast more than one person in an anime. thats how short the industry is on them. maybe if companies offered to pay more and maybe gave some job security to them maybe we would have more VAs and better results

There's a bunch of seiyus around for other 'cartoon's, 3D movies, etc.
Of course the main reason to blame is the actor him/herself.

Seriously, the abridged series on youtube covering DBZ and Yu-Gi-Oh are so much better. C'mon now.

lol, don't compare them to Japan period. I'm pretty sure Japan know the states suck at dubbing.
I mean I've seen shows and networks where they can't even find people to dub their own videos... in ENGLISH!

But yeah, a bit off topic for a bit there. FUNimation's new motion graphic is pretty sweet, though... XD

I know the market plays a big market in quality of dubs because it effects the
quality of actors, and I know you her alot of the same because they're not alot
of good/greats ones beside the normal.

However on the note of the same VA's for alot of big name stuff, I'm okay with
that. I think while some people claim Yuri Lowenthal and JYB sound the same in
all their roles, if you sit there and watch/listen they really do bring those
character to life. JYB is a reat example of good work, with his work as Renton
in Eureka 7.

[ And while everyone says Yuri's roles are all Sasuke, listening to the character
and watching them or playing them in a game shows you how he brings the best out in them. ]

Also I think anime could get alot more popular if anime like Cowboy Bebop, Gundam Wing,
Darker Than Black, Death Note, etc [ more action/mature based ] would get alot more
airtime on cable stations other than AS and Scifi. Reason being most people I know,
[ my irl friends mostly ] won't get serious into anime beucase they've seen one
or two things and think all anime is that [ Pokemon, Younger kid's shows, or stuff
like Inuyasha that they think is stupid cause of the fantasy setting ].

While I've never been into Darker Than Black, Im sure that kinda action [ if it was on
more television ] would attract alot of the casual american viewers. Or seeing
stuff like Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, Gundam Wing -- all that could work.

Anyway, there's some more input from me; Sorry I wasnt around a few days, bad cold.

Getting my wisdom teeth out Friday ;_; — I'll be out of it for a couple days D: ....
