true! I think that left4dead2 is the best this year, the best part is the storyline and melee weapon that added in this game. some new special infected also makes the games better and playing this make the first left4dead seems like a sort of introduction for this game |

Hard to pick. Most of the games I bought this year were older ones that had come out a year or two (or more) before 2009. Let's see. Best ------- Most Interesting: Probably Demon's Souls. It had nothing in the way of story, not much in characters, but it looked good and I loved exploring the dark and creepy worlds. The online invasion mechanic has since made this unplayable for me though, since in NG+ I cannot go anywhere without having to fend off a constant stream of other players. Most Enjoyable: Super Robot Wars OG Saga: Endless Frontier. I loved the characters and the battle system, and overall it was a pretty funny game as well. I put about 35 hours in to this, and loved every bit of it. Best Soundtrack: Final Fantasy Dissidia. This is questionable. I loved hearing all the Final Fantasy music again while battling, but out of the games I bought in 2009, it's one of the most recent ones. If I went back and listened to the soundtracks of the other games I bought in '09, I might change my mind on this one. I'm tempted to say Persona PSP, but that only had one or two songs that stuck out for me. Best Game I didn't think I would like: Megaman Starforce 3: Black Ace. I've been out of Megaman for a long time, and I've never played a Battle Network game, so when I saw this I was on the fence for a while on whether or not I should get it. It looked interesting from the cover art and the screenshots on the back, plus I was still a fan of Megaman, so eventually I caved and bought it. I loved this game so much. It explained things enough so that I could understand what was going on and what had happened even though I hadn't watched Megaman Starforce or played the previous titles, and it was a really fun game to play. I would get the others, but the only thing that stops me from doing so is knowing that there will be a downgrade in features and such since Black Ace/Red Joker is the most recent title. Worst ------- Most Overrated Game: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. I understand people who love it because of it's multiplayer, but in no way did it deserve the amount of praise it received. With Call of Duty 4 I understood the praise to some extent, but MW2 looked more like a James Bond movie than a depiction of modern combat. It was far too ridiculous to hold in such high esteem, especially when they want you to look at things like the infamous Airport Scene and be emotionally moved. It's a good game if you just like to jump online and shoot at other people, but nothing more. This was the first time, and will be the last time I let my friends talk me in to buying a big budget title like this. Biggest Letdown: Way of the Samurai 3. First of all, I DID love this game. The problem I have with it is that for everything they did right with this game, they messed something up. Not having a day limit was great, but after the 13th day they basically force you into an ending, regardless of what you have been doing or who you are fighting for. The world was also a bit too small, there were plenty of areas to go to, but it only took about 5 minutes to explore every part of it, and most of it was forest or open land, it made me miss the city setting of Way of the Samurai 2. The game also tended to end the game for you. The very first ending I got was the bandit ending, I killed the bandit leader because he was ticking me off, I had wiped out pretty much all of the bandit members, yet after I had killed the leader, I was appointed the new leader. The game then immediately had a cutscene where the Lord's forces stormed the hideout, and even though I killed literally 150+ soldiers (including the Captain of said forces) the game threw up a cutscene wherein I was surrounded and told me in a text scroll that I fought bravely with my remaining bandit members to the death. It's probably my biggest problem with the game, it makes you think you have freedom to create an ending for yourself, but it usually just kills you off in a cutscene at a random point. Pretty sure if I managed to take out 150 or more soldiers on my own, I could take out the other 25 that were surrounding me and my guys. Man, got a little long winded on that one. Anyway, I didn't really have many worst of's this year. I didn't buy games I knew I wasn't going to like, only ones that I knew I would like or ones where there was a chance I might like them. |
