MySpace buys Imeem

If you haven't noticed already, MySpace bought Imeem for less than a million$. I for one was pissed the day I tried going to imeem.com/??? and seeing "imeem is a part of myspace" or whatever. It sucks cause now the only way you can access imeem, is if you become a member of myspace, or make an account, and I've stopped using lame ol' myspace because it's lame. I don't want to sign on every time I just want to stream a friggin' song, but I'll preserve further judgment until I hear if it's even good still, which I doubt. Has anyone used it after it became a part of myspace? Since MySpace music has a ton of copyrighted rights from bands and companies, I fear that a ton of the music will either get removed or shortened to a sample piece. :/ Now there's really no good stream music site to stream music whenever you want. Playlist sucks compared to imeem. ------- |

I saw the same thing back near the start of the month! I'm equally as pissed. I just personally don't like networking sites like Myspace. Imeem was a networking site of sorts, but at least it provided a meaningful service such as music hosting and streaming. Imeem is pretty much ruined now, Myspace is going to drive it in to the ground. Apparently they are supposed to be working on transferring Imeem profiles over or something, but no way will I ever be signing up for Myspace just to use a now lesser version of Imeem. |

Nobody uses facebook to stream the music we listen to, no need to bring that up. Did a bit of reading, apparently the playlists from imeem.com, are safe, but the only way you'll be able to "claim" them is if you sign on/up on myspace. http://www.techcrunch.com/2009/12/21/imeem-myspace/ ------- |

Same thing happened to me... XD; I'm not gonna bother getting a myspace though. Anyways, coincidentally a few days after I found out about imeem going to myspace, my friend linked me to a site: http://listen.grooveshark.com/ It's definitely different, and I'm still not sure how to use it myself. Still, I think it's one of the closest things we can get to imeem, right? C: nomnomnomnom |

Grooveshark is descent, but nothing for like Japanese music. Imeem literally had everything, or close to everything compared to any other music streaming source. It was like something else + youtube with the videos, nothing else was on bar with imeem. I mean I've used Grooveshark before, and my roomate uses it often, too, but for example I search for something from L'Arc~en~Ciel, and I get other filtered results that I didn't even search for, like Akon comes up, and all these artists that are not even related to Laruku. It'd better for like mainstream english stuff, but it's so limited in terms of the variety and scale of music I listen to. ------- |

Its allll about blogspot. I really don't like how myspace is trying to be another Google. I don't like google because of their advertisments, but at least they keep it to a minimum. Myspace adverts are all over the page. |

How's myspace trying to become another google? And advertisements helps keep things free, such as youtube. ------- |

I'm personally devastated by the news that myspace bought imeem, for chump-change no less. Imeem was a great place to listen to all types of music whether it be english, japanese or other songs in another language. I liked their format & setup that made it very easy for members to use. Personally i spent many hours uploading music (particular the entire CLANNAD collection) & recieving all the positive responses thanking me for sharing the music. Now all that time basically is down the drain..... I do have an account at myspace but haven't used it in over 2-3 years cause it just wasn't my thing. I'm doubtful that the promise the site has made that it will transfer ALL the profiles to the site, even if they do it won't be the same. |

Oh yes, I was about to say. Izumo your media is in jeopardy of totally being tosses away, saddly enough. :( I had some good playlists, too, but those are as good as erased. I love how they totally took away the entire Imeem domain and linked it directly towards MySpace music, so there's no chance of you even signing onto Imeem one last time, the only way to even see what's going on is if you sign onto MySpace or make an account, something I'm sure everyone will not do. I hope they burn. ------- |
