Who is your favourite anime/manga artist?
Link | by on 2010-01-28 18:51:35
In this thread, I mean drawings. Meaning that you look into the perspective of how the artist's drawings amazed you and why.

These are my choices:

Kosuke Fujishima - Artist of my first favourite anime/manga ♥ Oh!My Goddess, also the one behind the works of Tales series as well as Sakura Wars and You're Under Arrest
I think Kosuke is a good prop artist. He can draw very good costumes and motorcycles/vehicles =3

Nobuhiro Watsuki - Renowned for drawing Rurouni Kenshin manga. Another of his great work is Busou Renkin
I like him for his simple style of drawing ♥

Takeshi Takeuchi - This guy influenced me to draw when I was 15. This guy is behind the illustrations of the Fate/Stay Night series, sequels and prequels as well as Blue blue Glass Moon Under The Crimson Air (Tsukihime) and Kara No Kyoukai.
I love his drawing style because it caught my attention. Kind of a unique style you could say ;)

Ken Akamatsu - This guy is good at harem mangas being famous to draw Negima! and Love Hina. Great at drawing girl's anatomy.

Park Sung-Woo - A korean artist of "Now", "Cyber Doll" and Peigenz. I love this guy for being able to draw in the most simplistic way.
The guy who influenced me to draw smooth lines.

Lee Myung-Jin - Who doesn't know this guy when you mention Raganarok Online? The guy behind the illustrations of Raganarok Online and the korean manga "Ragnarok". This guy is good at drawing very detailed artworks and a good costume artist too.

Yoshiyuki Sadamoto - One of the most iconic artists/mangakas in Japan. Famous for his illustrations on Neon Genesis Evangelion series. His other illustration works includes .hack//, FLCL and "Girl who leaped through time". Guy who influenced me to put extra details onto the hand.

CLAMP - They are known for drawing Cardcaptor Sakura, Tsubasa Chronicles and Kobato. CLAMP is famous at making crossovers in their mangas too xDD
I love how CLAMP drew the side view of the characters' faces ♥

So feel free to share your thoughts on who is your favourite anime/manga artist =)

My list is huge since being an artist myself my inspirations & influences are aplenty but here are the more notable ones that are at the top of the list.

Kosuke Fujishima-san
- totally agree with you there. his level of detail when he draws machinery is second to none. as well as his story-telling is heartwarming & sweet.

Ken Akamatsu-san
- agree with you here as well. as with Mr. Fujishima-san his level of detail is also quite spectacular. he also draws very cute characters that are lovable & memorable.

Naoko Takeuchi-san
- my very first manga is Sailormoon & her art is the reason i'm an anime/manga fan in the first place. she created my ALL-TIME fave character 'Minako-chan' & she is an influence & inspiration in my art as well.

Takeshi Takeuchi-san
- he does have a unique style when he draws characters...very simplistic but catches your eyes nonetheless.

Na Ga-san
- the mind behind the characters of CLANNAD, Little Busters! & other Key works. If you like cute moe characters than her style is for you.

Akira-san
- argubably my fave artist of all-time. mostly does designs for eroge but her character designs are absolutely magnificent, you can see her works as my background pics on my profile which changes occasionally. she has done a few doujins of various anime series from her label 'UsaUsa'. currently employed on the sister site of Navel (shuffle!)....Lime.

Hiro Suzuhira-san & Aio Nishimata-san
- have to put these 2 together since they work together all the time. if the names sound familiar they are the designers for Navel. series like Soul Link, Shuffle, & Akikan are some of their most notable works. very similar to the art style of Akira-san which is one of the reasons i like them.

There are many others like:
Satoshi Urushihara, Kira Inugami (Seitokai no Ichizon), Kaishaku (Kannazuki no Miko), Carnelian (Yami to Boushi), Yuji Shiozaki (Ikki Tousen), Masaki Kajishima (Tenchi Muyo).

Arina Tanemura - Except for Short Tempered Melancholic, I dislike her works. But she's such an amazing artist I can't help but love the look of her manga. She puts so much detail into it! It's gorgeous!

The ladies of CLAMP - I have yet to see a CLAMP manga without amazing artwork.

Hoshino Katsura
It's because her drawing is nice and I'm simply impressed with her work.
And also because she's the one who created D.Gray-Man.

OK

I'm not sure who did them, but I'm in love with the background art in Serial Experiments Lain. The blank, bleached and abstract look, retaining just enough form to be recognised, is more effective than any any amount of detail.

Ito Noizi : I am surprised that nobody suggested her name. Her styles influenced me and gave me inspiration for drawing since I was 13. And of course, it's because of Yuki Nagato. <3

Carnelian : What to say, I will rate this artist an A+. The females are all nicely drawn, the details and coloring are both precise and good.

Takeshi Takeuchi : Though his style is kind of simple, but at times, simplicity is everything.

Hiro Suzuhira : My first impression of her is that, bishoujo-ism. All the girls drew are lovable. Just nice for a 'bishoujo game'.
