Random Question!!
|
Hiya, So, I'm a guy that likes interesting clothing, lol. I was wondering if anyone out there knows if there is a specific name for a jacket that either: A jacket that looks like a normal jacket, but only goes half way down your torso OR Just covers your arms. Both are jackets/clothing found in anime, so I was wondering if they had a name. Thanks for taking the time to read this!

An image would be more specific, if you had one. There's too many varieties. ------- |

Since I am looking for a word for the jackets it's hard for me find pictures of what I'm thinking of. So, with a few anime characters that I can think of I will try to explain what I want because I cannot remember the anime that I got the idea from in the first place. Sai from Naruto Shippuden (http://www.narutoimagens.com/imagem.php?id=64899) Shiranami from Naruto Shippuden (Current Anime Story Arc ep149-150 have his outfit) Cloud Strife from (Advent Children Outfit; http://d17rulez.deviantart.com/art/Final-Fantasy-Cloud-Strife-104942812?offset=30) So, with Sai and Shiranami, they were shirts with no lower torso. I would be thinking of a style like that, but for a jacket (I'm not one for mid-drift :*). Alternatively, there is a style where there are two arms attached in a way that Cloud's right shoulder pad is attached. (I.e. imagine two the arm pieces of cloud on each arm.) I hope that helps elaborate.

It's been a while since you posted your question, but just in case you still haven't found out those names: The jacket that goes only halfway down your torso is called a bolero jacket (a short tailored jacket). It can also be called a shrug (typically when knitted), and that is at the same time the name for the jacket that only covers the arms. If you'd like to read it yourself, it's here in short as wel :P http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shrug_%28clothing%29 If you google on 'shrug' you'll find pictures to see if this was really what you were talking about. |
