Curious if there's any bboys around, or bgirls!? I really need to start this Summer. It can also be my option for exercising. ------- |

I need to get some exercise as well. I might be going back to practicing my Karate and add a bit of parkour if possible. I am interested in dancing but its not my priority right now. Kneel Before the Great and Benevolent Cow! |

Oh definitely. I have people wanting to film me already, but not willing to learn with me. XD Ever see bboys videos on youtube or actual battles? I've been dying to find people to talk to about this stuff since learning about it on youtube a while ago, but haven't found anyone yet. D: ------- |

I used to b-boy like mad in high school lol. I might start picking it up now that you've mentioned it :P Are you by any chance tall? cuz I'm 6 feet tall, and it takes me a much longer time to get the balance of stuff like flares and crickets down because of my height >.< Just a work of caution, bad balance could end up with broken wrists. Edit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-fZfsPa6ZU best flare tutorial IMO. learned it with that vid. The same crew teaches more moves, like the basic windmill, or just freezes, even toprock routines. |

OMG I can't believe a thread for this was made. I definitely want to learn in the future I was actually inspired after watching ABDC It needs tons of exercise and balance though -_- |

ABDC's a joke. The only thing good is their breaking crews, but it's unfair to have breaking crews on that show, and all their breaking crews are overrated and crap, though Quest Crew did some really good stuff, honestly. America's a total idiot when it comes to that show, the judges don't know anything (except Shane Sparks). If you watch stuff like BOTY or IBE, yeah, ABDC is garbage... [@L] Former bboy? Yo, that's pretty badass L. How far did you progress? Any good? Were you a style guy or a powerhead? I love power moves, but I'm not physically built for it. More style, some power freezes for me. I'm not that tall really, I could probably nail a flare though if I'm careful. I injured my wrist a long time ago playing basketball (reason why I shoot left handed now instead of right, formerly). Good tutorial from Pop, from Gamblerz? Cause Pop BARELY talks if it's the same person, but I doubt there's another Pop in Korea anyways. KYS/Bruce Lee did a tutorial, too, just going the other way so if you can't mentally calculate it in your head, watch both. Do you just dance? Follow any crews or competitions? What kind of moves can you nail cleanly? But yeah before you start breaking, you need to practice a bit of stamina, strength, balance, and maybe dance moves, too. That's the only thing I really need to learn is basic dance steps and whatnot. I played sports for a long time, although I'm in college now I can easily work out and exercise at the dorms again. ------- |

Even though I'm more of a free runner I have always been interested in bboy. I respect all of the technique and stabilization training that goes into it. I've been focusing a lot on body weight oriented routines to build up a solid base so I can get into it. If you want to get into power moves I could link the sites I used to start up my own regimen. @L I feel for ya man. Being tall puts way too much stress across your shoulder girdle but at least we can throw out crazy windmills and airflares. |

@DA I focused more on power moves when I bboy, but it was a side thing compared to my popping. I had a crew for popping, and got pretty good with Iso's and Precision movement. Then there was the b-boy, in which I picked up around the same time I started to free run actually. I learned a lot from the Gamblerz vids, i ended up mastering the flare, windmill, cricket, one handed cricket, air flare, and the 1990, to name a few. There were so many stories on how badly I hurt myself trying to learn each of those moves lol... especially the 1990, since it took me around 5 days to get the spin, but nearly 4 weeks to get the landing without either landing on my back or landing on my side lol. I only had respect for two crews in ABDC, Quest, and Kappa modern. That's IT. blah... hated the so-called judges that sat next to shane lol. Now that I think of it, I have never gone to competition lol. Maybe I will if I start up again in the summer. @Wolf True, but not flinging yourself off your hands during an airflare due to the fact that your long legs creates too much momentum is a pain hahahaha. a REAL pain. |

[@Wolf] Yo Wolf, long time no see man. No idea you were into the sport as well. [@L] Oh nice. You need intense power just to do basic powermoves, it's insane. The amount of discipline that's put into training, especially for powermovers is really inspirational. Yeah, the asian crews kept on getting screwed every year until Quest ended that fact. Kabba Modern was really good, too. Take away the breaking crews, they were the best. So Real Crew the next year was like a reincarnation of Kabba, but also lost, plus the final challenge was unfair to them. More on bboying, do you have any favorite crews or bboys? Do you know stuff about IBE and BOTY? You should watch stuff from Bboy Pocket (Morning of Owl). He's a prodigy powermover in Korea for the next gen, which is going to be amazing! Don't expect doing stuff he's doing though, because he's 14, he's smaller, lighter on his feet, and lighter by weight, but in a few years if he trains hard, he'll be doing stuff like KYS or Physicx, which is a scary thought. :O ------- |

I've heard of Pocket, he scares me and makes me sad that he is 4 years younger than me and doing that better than me lol. My favorites have got to be Gamblerz and Dream Team Japan(or just the All Stars of Japan, like Kimutaku, Spinboy Aichi, to name two :P). They make power moves look easy and then kick it up a notch lol. Like Bboy The End's 1990 is nearly flawless, seams from air flares into flares into more air flares and then into another 1990. God... and then the one move that was completely ridiculous... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EbPax9PAGUI&feature=related This was part of one of my favorite battles btw lol. Kimutaku made that look easy. |

Well he's a prodigy, plus he had a really good teacher (Rocket), who's now in Gamblerz. Aichi is considered one of the best Bboy headspinners in the world, but honestly one of my favorite crews (OG) have two of the best headspinners on the SAME TEAM! Nasty. The End is nice, I'd love to see him face Physicx though. He doesn't do 1990's anymore, or barely does it in any set. His recent jackhammer to air flare is insanely brutal, if you never saw that, you have to check that out. He is considered the best power head in the world, but that's just absurd. He has good style too, not just power plainly. His lotus set is nice, too. Lotus flares to lotus mills (RedBull BC One). I loved Gamblerz for a long time, but I recently declared Jinjo Crew as my favorite crew. Other good crews I like are Rivers Crew, and yes, the Original Gambler crew, who are brutal now. Do you like any certain bboys though? I can see you're a fan of The End, though who isn't. ------- |

besides The End, I have to say Kimutaku. He is the only guy I deem that I can't do the things he do, maybe because he is a short japanese guy, and I'm a tall chinese guy, and the height has something to do with it. But I admire the oddities he pulls. Like that backflip to airchair thing. To me, there is no, "BEST POWERHEAD" title. Cuz like, I know The End does some crazy things most people won't attempt, but i know for a fact that he can't attempt the backflip to airchair (he is pretty tall too.) and there are those whose air tracks are lengthier and cleaner than The End. Hell, Sick's double jointed-ness can't be compared with lol. I have liked Jinjo for a while, but I keep Gamblerz as the top only because their tutorial vids helped me with my b-boy tricks the most. lol |

You should see Flex, who I think was in BOTY 2003 with them (OG). Gamblerz have new members now, too, geez can they get any more built? I think they have a bgirl added onto the team now, too! I can't wait to see her. One of my new favorites of the group is Bboy Rush, he's nasty. His airchair spin hops are so cool. XD ------- |
Re: Anybody b-boy?

Training up a solid base is annoying. In my life I've trained pure strength and pure speed/agility and I have to say those were so much easier than trying to keep both. I'm hoping all this training will pay off in the next 6 months to a year and I can start into heavy technique training. Any1 know where I can get some really good tutorials for future reference? |
