Please tell me there's some MMA/UFC fans here...!

Huge fan of MMA for a long time, and got into UFC a little while back.
Looking forward to UFC 112, it's going to be intense!

I love the idea of mixed martial arts. And I really loved UFC back when it was style against style, no weight classes, and single elimination. That was a show to see. Now that it's progressed into the spotlight, I'm sad to see the diversity disappearing bit by bit. I like that you need a background in striking and grappling just to stand a chance but I find myself going, "that kick was f*kn terrible", or "...wtf...how do you get caught with a superman punch!?!?!" Still, the top end fighters are very fun to watch and pick apart.

Yeah I saw Royce Gracie back in the day, damn he was beast.

I think in the years though, it was for the better. A lightweight vs. Heavyweight is still unfair,
though I understand your saying of skill is important and yeah it most likely is.
Though with weight classes I think it makes it more fair for the most part and evened out. I like it.
Plus people change weight classes all the time when it comes to MMA.

Any favorite fighters, Wolf?

One time, I tried to watch UFC 109 (I think?). The one that features Randy Couture and Mark Coleman? And oh it was monster! XD
I think I'll try and get more updated and try to know the other fighters since I got tired lately of WWE.. DX

Did you buy it on PPV? And yeah, I got tired of WWE long time ago.
I watch it like, occasionally when I'm on break and at home, but it'll be like at night when there's nothing else on TV, and I'm eating.
Though happy to see HBK finally retires, but yeah, in a few days matches from 112 will release.

That's where I watch all of them anyways since I don't order them.

I watch them on a local TV station, I think they air the show 3-4 days later. But it's cool.

Who's on the main match of UFC 112? Brock Lesnar? Haha. XD

Wait, what!? You saw it for free? Damn, where do you live?
They do air some of the recent PPVs for free on TV though, as a special event.
They've aired UFC 101 I think twice on TV, and another one in the 100s, but I forget.

The main card for 112 is Demian Maia vs. Anderson Silva, Frankie Edgar vs. BJ Penn, returning Matt Hughes vs. Henzo Gracie.
I gotta check the other fights, but yeah 112 is different. One, it's being held in the middle east and outside.

Hey hey hey!!! I know Anderson Silva and BJ Penn! Did Penn won in his last fight? o.O I can't remember! /why

I live in the Philippines.. XD And they air it for free.. XD Hahaha..
But the telecast is 3-4 days late.. It's okay though.. XD

I didn't knew HBK retired! Hahaha, now there's no more Sweet Tune music.. XD

BJ Penn DOMINATED his last fight, against Diego Sanchez.

Oh nice, the Phillippines, a fighter fighting who's Filipino is Mark Munos.
His nickname is "The Filipino Wrecking Machine", lol, but he's pretty good.

And yeah the WWE is going to die pretty soon, especially when Triple H and especially the Undertaker retire.
But it's stupid Hulk Hogan and Rick Flair are in TNA, which is even more idiotic... but whatever.

Off hand I've been following Anderson Silva and Lyoto Machida since they debuted in UFC but my favorite is George Saint Pierre. The majority of the fights I say "wow" to involve these guys because they each bring a fresh style to the table.

Machida will sit and wait until you try something stupid and then make you pay in a bad way. Silva has such a wide variety of techniques that he'll make you eat his heel then choke you with his ankle. And GSP always brings his best to the table if it's the 1st second of the first round or the last 10 of the 5th.

The main card looks pretty interesting for 112, I may end up going to the bar and watching it. Which fighters do you follow DA?

Saint Pierre is monster. And I think Brandon Vera is another Filipino too, too bad he kept on losing when he entered a specific weight class.. DX

Yeah, Machida is known as a counter-striker, though people don't like that for some reason.
It's just an improved defense until he'll unleash his offense on you (i.g. Rashad Evans).

I follow pretty much everyone really, though the more known ones are easier to track of course.
I'm excited to see Anderson Silva vs. Demian Maia, that's going to be pretty fierce.
I saw the countdown video about their fight last night, this is going to be a striker vs. grappler brawl,
but Demian Maia has increased his striking since his 29 second KO lose and Silva has learned new jujutsu.

I've been following Brock Lesnar lately since he's coming back very soon to defend his belt against Shane Carwin.

UFC 113 will showcase your main, Machida vs. Shogun 2 (epic). Might be co-main event with Rashad/Rampage, not sure yet.
I really want to see that match badly, they had so much beef with each other during the season of the Ultimate Fighter.

From their season:

I was right that Machida and Rua should have a second bout, since Machida's win in their first one is not that convincing..

Yeah it was old news. They agreed on a rematch right after their fight actually.

Thanks. I'm skeptical about using the signature though,
because when I save it, it doesn't show it's FULL quality potential, as the .psd file does.
I might keep switching back to the more simpler version, which matches the avatar better. I'unno. :/

UFC 112 was Saturday. I found out it was in Abu Dahbi (spelling), no wonder it wasn't announced in the states.
I haven't checked if the fights were upped yet, but I'll check 'em out this week when I have time.

Sugar and Rampage's beef has always entertained me. I love Rampage because he howls after he pwns people =P but the grudge match with Sugar is going to be epic.

I finally saw the BJ Penn fight and the Anderson Silva fight.
BJ Penn got screwed and Anderson Silva didn't perform to his full extent.

Anyone else see the matches before I talk about them?

And yeah the Rampage/Rashad fight should be after this next PPV, 114. Possibly 115 though, we'll see.

I'm seething about it at the moment. Penn got robbed plain and simple. Edgar has good movement but it's wasted on a caliber fighter like Penn who wasn't pressed that entire match. Silva's fight against Maia was hilarious for the first 2 rounds. I'm still waiting for the Anderson Silva I know and love to finish that fight. I don't know whether he's just bored at middle weight or just too cautious to plant his foot and swing for the fences.

Re: Official UFC Thread

Benn looked awfully tired by the championship rounds, and BJ Penn NEVER gets tired (unless he's fighting GSP).
You're talking about one of the best cardio athletes in the sport, but yeah he obviously was tired.
There's no way, in respect to Edgar, him beating Penn, especially in the championship match.
Why can't there be ties anymore in the UFC? This is a championship battle.
Penn would agree with this, but he didn't deserve to keep the belt after this performance,
but more importantly and truthfully, Edgar didn't deserve to win it with that performance either.
Not sure what BJ Penn's going to do now, but since he's not the champion anymore, people are going to go after Penn.

Also I hope Gomi gets used to the UFC and dominate like he apparently did in Pride. K-Flo is probably close to #1 contender.

Anderson Silva almost got knocked out by Maia in the championship rounds.
As far as Silva goes, Dana White (pres) got REALLY pissed off at Silva by the fifth round.
Told his corner even something like he had to finish the fight or whatever, but yeah,
even if you're Anderson Silva, #1 in the world, you can't do that to your opponent.
Finish them when you can, don't f#ck around with someone's pride like that. Makes things personal.
They had respect at the end of the match, I heard him apologize to Maia I think after the match but yeah,
GSP was sitting ring side the entire match, and he's one honest person.
I'm waiting to see if he's going to say something about the fight. Remember what he said to Hughes?

Oh wait, you can watch it yourself!

Reading the comments, it was either staged. Funny how GSP posed for a picture after that, hahaha.
