Any news about a US release? Different sources say different things, and I was really hoping it would be released here.

I haven't heard anything about a US release either D:
Has it been announced for America?
I know its out in Japan (and had gotten recalled at one point or another),
so hopefully we'll hear about an English version soon.
I love me some Tales, and I love me some Wii, so I'm very
excited for Tales of Graces to come to America :D And all
the screens I've seen look great =)

The japanese version was released last December, and only a european date has been announced for this summer. Still no word on a north american date but i guess it'll be only a matter of when not if.

Yea, it was released last December, and then the European date was announced for June if I'm correct.

Thing is though, if there's a European release, it would be easier for them to do a North American release as well. Since they have to translate it to English for England, I think they could make the minor tweaks between their English and our English. That's much easier than just translating straight to our English.

Also, usually Bamco makes their statements around April 1st and we didn't here any, or at least i didn't, so i'm starting to get a litle skeptical.

Maybe we'll need to import D: I hope not >.>

Le'ts not hope we have to important, because the only ones who will be able to play it, are people with either japanese or European consoles. Region locking the Wii was a stupid idea.

I was just randomly looking when I found this out! It doubles the coolness of Tales! Wooohooo!! I mean, what other big RPG series can have an anime cameo this awesome in it right? Not FF, not Star Ocean, but Tales!

Region locking was not a smart idea...
But then again, it's bussiness...

Hopefully the NA version comes out!

Ever since some lackluster sales for the last few Tales games in NA, Namco Bandai has kinda withdrawn all releases of Tales games outside of Japan. There is a huge demand by Tales fans pleading them to release games outside of Japan (like the PS3 version of Vesperia & Graces) but still no word whether that will happen.

With the new Tales of Xillia that is even more incentive for fans clamering for international releases.

This is just my personal opinion but i believe Namco Bandai shot themselves in the foot by ignoring the biggest fanbase of the series which were Playstation fans. This generation they have released games for the Xbox360 & Wii but nothing for the PS3 (other than the port of Vesperia). The games on those systems failed to impress probably cause there wasn't an already large fanbase that the Playstation platforms have garnered over the years. I believe that they saw that both these systems had a larger install base than the PS3 & thought they could make money out of it. You can't make money if no one cares for the games simple as that. It will be interesting to see what Namco Bandai does to recapture what they had seemingly lost the last few years in regards to the Tales franchise.

It is almost the same reason that Squenix is struggling this gen. They too have pretty much ignored their largest fanbase. Final Fantasy sold well not cause it was a good game (hardly) but because it bares the Final Fantasy name & the hype.

Namco Bandai already stated that they won't be releasing any future Tales games outside of japan. Why? Because of how bad Vesperia did. And as Izumo stated, they released it on the wrong console in the first place. They blamed on the fans what was actually their fault.

Don't hope for Graces; it's not coming. Forget Xillia, you'll be better off in my book. Unless you're a die-hard fan. Go ahead and learn Kanji and Katakana, and import the game, because we won't be seeing another Tales game in English ever again.

Try reading this article. Very Interesting. Really.

Here it is:

Article about Namco

After reading this, I wonder what those old men at Namco are thinking, holding back the Tales franchise from localization.....hmm

Anyway, if this title is this BIG, then maybe we can hope some nice people would start a translation project... Of course, that would take years to finish though...

I'm willing to play this in Japanese you know...I got Persona 4 right away after its released in Japan, there's no reason not to do that with Tales of Graces.

After all, I get to play as Code Geass characters hehe......

You can only play with the Code Geass in the PS3; it's paid DLC.

A translation patch for wii has been started a looooong time ago. I'd say it's about 88% done with the initial translation and 12% done on correcting/double checking the initial.

So i did some number crunching adding all the estimate sales figures from every Tales game made for each system & did a comparison. The playstation has had the most game releases for the series with 17 games, followed by nintendo with 11 games & microsoft with just the 1.

Here are my results & why i believe that the fault for games not being localizes lies in Bamco's decision making. Remember some of the sales are only in Japan since some of these games were never localized. 5 of the highest selling games of the Tales series are on the playstation platform. Notice other than graces f (port) & vesperia (port) the last console tales game on a playstation platform was abyss (that too was a port).....

yes i'm a fan of the series. I'm upset that longtime players of the series since the original PS era like myself have to suffer cause of some poor decision making by the suits at Bamco!

Because many of the titles are untranslated (and because I'm such an addict), I have played some of the tales in Japanese. Here are a few I can remember:

Tales of Symphonia ps2 port
Tales of the Abyss
Tales of Destiny remake
Tales of Destiny 2
Tales of Innocence
Tales of Hearts

@ Haseo - Wow, I didn't know there's a translation project going on, because I didn't look for it since I don't have Wii. Thanks for the heads up haha.

I downloaded the Tales of Graces F demo off the playstation store (JPN) to see if I could do well by importing it. It didn't go very well. I didn't know the least bit of what I was doing, and I was just button mashing. So I'm going to do more research to see whether I should import it or not.

Random question: how much is ¥400 (yen) in USD?

@ Haseo-san
400 yen is about $5 US roughly, every US dollar i believe currently is about 82 yen.

A question of what you could play of Graces F, how does it look & play compared to other Tales games. I know it is just a port of the Wii version but did you notice any improvements?

On a side note i've been following the news about Xilia & everytime i see that game i really wish Bamco decided to localize it. It looks so different cause of the new art style, almost cel-shaded but not really. Characters look interesting & the world seems alot bigger. Not much is know of the battle system since i've only seen screens of it, seeing it in motion will determine what it is like.

@Izumo: It looks really great. I was stunned at the menu, it's just so clear and sharp. My HDMI cables probably make the difference, but it still looks so smooth, yet sharp at the same time.

As for the battle system: it was pretty confusing for me, considering I couldn't understand the pre-battle tips, but um sure if you understood what it was telling you it would be a lit easier. Chaining combos together can be a tedious task, but when you do, it's really satisfactory to see your damage climb to 10k+. The voice acting is really well done, and overall it seems really good.

As for what you play: it's just a small forest dungeon (that is almost impossible to navigate) with some monsters and a sub-boss.

I haven't been keeping up with Xillia, cause honestly, I don't wanna get worked up over a title that we'll never see on NA shores.

@ Haseo-san
Yeah it is highly unlikely but never say never. You never know that maybe one day the suits at Bamco will get their heads out of their collective @$$es & do what is right. Besides their are quite a few companies here in NA that are willing to localize the game like Xseed.

The fans have already spoken many times even flooding their facebook/myspace pages. Are Bamco really that stuck up (like another company this gen) that they are willing to alienate even more fans by not giving them what they want. So they have had some poor sales lately, big deal. Every company goes through that period but like i said it is all self-inflicted cause of some poor decisions. They were blinded by potential sales rather than look for the easy money.

So i have some faith that Bamco will make the decision we TRUE fans of the series are waiting for.

Anyways from what you are saying Graces F is a vast improvement over the Wii version. I've only seen the pics but as you describe it, in motion it is really good. *sigh* another wasted oppurtunity by Bamco....

*EDIT*
Well what ya know, it looks like Bamco may have finally taken their heads out of their @$$es for a change. Judging by the news recently it seems that Tales of the Graces F may indeed be localized. There was this strange puzzle game on Bamco's facebook page & if solved kinda looks like the Graces F logo.

There may be an imminent announcement that the game will be released outside Japan, fingers crossed that will be true.

@Izumo: Yea, I'd say that there's a 98% percent chance we're actually getting ToGF. As for a release date, I think we can be expecting it sometime soon. An image solved even further that I've seen had a distorted (but still readable) 2.2.2011. If that was the case, then Bamco was doing this behind our backs, waiting to surprise us. It was in their best intentions, but how do we react? By flaming, and cursing Bamco as a company, stating that we've lost all hope in them.

Hopefully, this is all true, and as my flame is vigorously rekindled, I believe in Bamco once again, and I believe that we're getting ToGF.

I've Aldo heard jumbled talks of ToVPS3 too, that Bamco might be bringinv it along with ToGF.

@ Haseo-san
So there is a date in there! Doubt it is a release date but more of we will be getting something official at that time. I guess all the flaming & cursing at Bamco have finally gotten through to them, the TRUE fans of the series have definitely spoken which is so good to see.

If this is true (and a BIG IF) i will humbly take all my harsh words i've stated about Bamco about them not caring for their fans. I will swallow my pride & admit i was wrong about them (they still deserve some of it though :P).

Been so long since i last played a Tales game since it really hasn't been on a Sony platform in some time. I think the last game i played was Radiant Myth 1 for the PSP! :O
