In my opinion, I'm positive that it's going to be a hit. Why? I might as well list the reason why. :] 1. The Line-Up Of Games: If you haven't checked out the upcoming game tittles that are planned for the 3DS, they're amazing. Like absolutely amazing. Games such as Dead or Alive: Dimension, appears on the Nintendo system for the first time. Not to mention, Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D, is also making an appearance on the 3DS. And let's not forget some of our Nintendo favorites like Paper Mario, and Zelda is also mention. 2. The graphics: I have only seen some of the preview on the Nintendo website and on youtube, but so far, it actually looks pretty good. It's epic for Nintendo to make a game system where the graphic doesn't look blocky. You have no idea how upset I was when I was playing dragonball on the wii, it was just so... square and blocky. The same thing goes for Princess Debut on the DS. I don't even want to get into detail about that one. >.> 3. The backward compatibility: This for me, was the biggest upside for me. Games from both the DSi and the original DS can be played on the 3DS. Though from reading on the Nintendo site, some of the original DS game can't be played. 4. The features: It has a web browser, the Mii, ad some more stuff that I don't want to mention. 5: I trust Nintendo: ... Well to a certain extent. I mean the wii went well with the motion sensor. Don't you agree? Though with all these factor, there are some downsides like... - The battery life: Like really, 5 hours? That's it? I''m always away from home, so I would never have the time to charge it. - The 3D effect: Remember the virtual boy? How do we know the 3DS not going to be a fail? - The timing: Pokemon Black and White is coming out March 6th in America. The 3DS is coming out March 27th. Notice how close that is? If a Pokemon game came out for the 3DS, they sale would be high and the success would be a definite. But w.e Game Freak usually know what they're doing, so in a way, I can't blame them. So what do you think? Hit or Miss? |

I have no doubt that it will be a hit, if only because Nintendo is behind it. Personally, I have no interest in dropping $250 for the sake of 3D (which I already don't buy into), especially since I already spent $120 late last year upgrading from my old DS Lite to a DSi XL so I could have a bigger screen. The games also don't impress me so far. It has a pretty weak launch line-up and most of the bigger titles won't be out for months (not to mention that some of the biggest titles will be nothing more than ports). As you said, if Pokemon Black and White were launch titles for the system, then I would be one of those people in line to buy one, despite the fact that I don't really have an interest in the 3DS. Anyway, it's going to be a hit regardless. Simply because it's Nintendo. Yes, they have had flops before, as well as disappointments, but for the most part they are a sure thing. I know that I will end up with one eventually, because at some point in time they are going to release a game or series on it (like Pokemon >_>) which I can't resist playing. |

I agree with Jon. I'm personally not into hand-helds anymore, so my opinion might not matter really, but this is what I think. I do think it'll reach great success early on (as the Wii did). Nintendo is a large company with many fanboys (as Sony is). Many people will buy the 3DS for their support of Nintendo, however I don't think it'll last for long. In terms of games and graphics, "NGP" or the PSP2 easily beats it. That's like comparing PS2 (maybe) to the Wii's graphics. Unheard of, but the PSP2 is rumored to have the PS3 graphics! Spec wise, easily beats the 3DS as well. Really thick in size but fans finally get that extra analog stick they've been begging for a while. There's also dual (front/rear) cameras, quality might be iffy as well, there's 3G and Wifi, too. Sony announced games that'll first release for the PSP2. Although just a starter-ish line-up, sounds more interesting than Nintendo's line-up (no offense). And most of their games seems to be remakes with added 3D (typical). Some things of the PSP2 are a bit boring like GPS (think they call it "Near"), but the thing with PSN is interesting. You can like link up your trophies from your PS3, to your PSP2. Nintendo will also have an edge, price wise... at least against the PSP2. That's pretty expensive, but typical Sony. But for an extra 50$ (if you want a nice, large one), buy a friggin' PS3 if you haven't already... There are even game bundles that would cost the same price as the 3DS. 3D today in anything, honestly, is overrated. People don't even understand how it truly works. Although a neat approach from Nintendo, 3D's already been done to games. Not sure if the PSP2 will have 3D, but I think it will as well as Blu-Ray/HD/whatever... Sort of made it a this vs that discussion, but that's what I think. I think for a while Nintendo will have large success with it, cause they're re-releasing games/franchises that have been popular (or/and aka *cough*milked*cough*). But it'll have heavy competition against the PSP2 whenever it releases, regardless of the rumored high price. It's going to be interesting. At least Nitendo can start making some green again since the Wii is slowly fading away (in my opinion). P.S. In terms of console, Sony is going to destroy anyone so the Wii shouldn't try and my opinions against Microsoft have always been the same. P.S.2. Can't wait for E3 this year. ------- |

This dude at Gamestop told me that with all the pre-ordering it's getting, it's estimated to not be available until 6 months after its release. It's not even out yet, and it's a HUGE hit. |

Definitely a hit. It's Nintendo after all. As for me, I'll be getting myself one... eventually. I'm more on portable consoles after all. |
